That is all i want. He doesn't get a penny more than Ilya. If he wants 7+ we would be crazy to entertain that notion. He isn't a game breaker, it's not what he does.
- WayneZ

I would give him 7 mil but for no more than 5 years.

Good.

They're not going to accomplish anything in the playoffs this year anyway.

but i've got 10 bucks on them making the playoffs this year....please don't make them take my total $$ loss to $50

if there was a deal to edmonton. what would have to be offered?
Paajarvi, 1st Rd pick ( which will probably yield NJ a lottery pick) and Petry? would that be enough? i would hope that'd get er done

I could probably live with 7 mill over 5 years. Parise's style doesn't bode well for longevity. No one can sustain that level of intensity for that many years.

I would think most NHL teams would want the guy but at what price? It's going to cost a ton in a trade and a ton more in salary. The kid is worth it though. After seeing him play at the Olympics two years ago there is no doubt he's a top flight player and absolute clutch.

I wouldn't want to mortgage the farm for him and then have him walk in the summer. If I were to deal for him, I would want to know that he was at least open to immediately start talking about an extension.

Of the two guys that won't be traded, I'd rather have Getzlaf.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of a contract until he's 40 at this point. I don't wanna give him more that 8-9 years.

So he goes to NYR?.....TOR would improve more than most teams would by adding him because they would lose the least from their active roster to do it.

TOR has owned NYR this year....

Not overly concerned, not bursting with confidence either though...5 on 5, Reimer's sv% is something ridiculous like .941 (saw this stat the other day, might have actually been higher) but on the PK he's something terrible like .720.

I don't think either goalie is fantastic...but what are they going to do that isn't going to cost them the farm to fix? Harding would be a nice trade...but a Schneider or Bernier will cost way too much.

- Juice

I would take Harding before Bernier though. And yes, Schneider value would be quite high. Give Reimer the rest of the season, he will never be a top 5 but if the Leafs can find this #1 center, they won't need stellar play from their goalie night in night out. And besides, he is square and seems better with his rebound control this year (just saw him play twice though).

It's the PK that's been driving me nuts for 4 years...he's coached two completely different teams (1st year vs today's team) to TERRIBLE PK. To me, that's a problem.

You need to relax on telling me to relax!!!

- Juice

I just don't get how you think any of the work he did with the team 4 years ago would have carried over to any of the players on the team now.
He hasn't had 4 years to work out the team's pk issues, he has had however long he's had this group of players. He hasn't had anyone but Kulemin for that entire period of time (I think), his bottom 6 (the guys Burke is giving him as 'pk guys') have changed a lot.

When do the Devils need to turn in the First round pick as part of the Kovalchuk fine?

It goes back to his earliest days. He just never seems to shine when we're at our lowest point. Even Kovy, whom I generally dislike has that ability. Last year when NJ was down and out, that joker went on an unworldly tear and nearly pulled off the impossible. Zach just doesn't have that trait.
- WayneZ

To be fair he is one of the most talented players in the league.

I think I would agree with you on the Harding choice...mostly because we've seen more of Harding then we have of Bernier and frankly as a Leafs fan...I'm sick of taking chances on goalies, would rather trade for the safer bet then the "supposed to".

One of the next three seasons. It'll be interesting to see what Lou does this season. The pick will probably be in the late teens, and we do have 3 extra picks (2nd, 4th, and 5th round). However, this is supposed to be a great draft class, and we don't want to miss out on a really good player in he first round for nothing. But if we don't give it up this year it really forces lou's hand.
