Definitely not...it MIGHT put them in the top 8-9 in the league. I still think very strongly that with the right coach and the right system they could be better then they are now. Then again though...the goaltending they've had has been pretty up and down. Philly fans won't care to hear me complain about that.

If the penalty kill was even in the middle of the pack, Leafs would be 1st overall right now. Easily half a dozen 1 goal games they've lost due to PK.

Sigh....must you always speak like an anti-fan. Your "I hate Leafs" goggles are a constant frustration.

that'd be one usefull goalie. So, do you pull him on a delayed penalty, or just have him join the rush
- Big_Lightnin

Goalies can't stick handle past the blue line. He would have to be a hybrid defender that had such amazing hand/eye coordination that he could just stand off to the side of the net and defend using a player's stick. Last I heard Lou was tracking down that mutant from the Origins movie that was blocking all those bullets with his swords.

Lou does look like a mad scientist. I could certainly see him in a big lab coat, attempting to genetically engineer the perfect hockey player.

Steven's hitting, Maddens penalty killing, Kovy's shot, Parise's hustle, Holik's forehead, Peluso's hair, Marty's faithfulness, Danton's ethics.

Suspended in his first game in today's NHL and removed from the league by the end of the season.

I'm just saying they were saying it. Distinctly remember panel discussion on whether Reimer would have been a Vezina nominee if he had been in since training camp...

And not a ridiculous discussion, cause if he had played 60+ games at the level he played the last 37, he probably would have been in the running.

- Big_Lightnin

Okay, but that's a very different point. The discussion IS entirely different if he played those games, but he didn't. That's very different than what was said here....

Reimer? I would bet you can't find one person that said he should be a Vezina candidate.

- prock

oh no dude, end of last year even some media guys were saying that. This year, not so much...
- Big_Lightnin

that does not mean if he played 60. It means with the 37 games he played. Very different. It's a realistic discussion for a goalie who's played 50+ games, preferably 60. the very reason it is ridiculous is because he only played 37 games.

And THAT is what makes this comment, which started it all, so moronic.

Some? They were saying he should be a Vezina candidate and Calder candidate! And taht hed lead them to the playoffs!

And his cap hit is actually 5.66, and look at the standings, that'll show ya everything. Winning is the only thing that matters.

If NJ had the ability to decline power plays we would be first. 12 shorthanded goals against each one in a losing effort.

So...with Parise the Leafs are an 8th place team. Yet at the moment they sit in 7th place.

Sounds like solid logic to me.

Adding Parise at best puts you in a fight for the last playoff spot this season...
- keatondixon

so adding Parise would have no tangible effect whatsoever on the Leafs position in the standings.

excellent, thanks for you input.

To Minny where hes from would make a bunch of sense. With him they become a playoff contender for confrence cup not so much. Give a great face to the organization which boomed when the Twins got Mauer. Parise with Heatley would be a nice combo.

Yes but our hybrid would be gionta's size, thus moving the impact point from the head to the groin area.

I dunno about 1st...but they'd have another 5+ points for sure.

I believe Burke will go after Parise, brainwash Lou Lamoriello, get Parise and sign him long-term

Heatley's driving ability and Zach's extensive knowledge of cpr and first response first aid?

dude, I wasn't making the argument, I'm just telling you it most definitely was discussed by actual hockey analysts on television, not just Leaf fans on HB.

You initially said "nobody was talking about Reimer for Vezina" (or something like that) and I was just pointing out that was innaccurate.

one of the games last week they threw up a stat and were discussing that 6-7 more wins were "probable" with a PK that was 10% better (ie top 15 in the league)

There is no doubt he will go hard for him.

It's just a matter of what Parise thinks of the team after they trade away the necessary pieces to get him.

Wouldn't mind trying to sign Doan to a 2-3 year contract in the summer...he's old but would be a nice piece to teach the forwards a thing or two.

Would be nice...they just need to step up and start blocking shots and cutting off angles.

Easier said then done I suppose.

it isn't out of the question that Parise goes to July 1st unsigned.

If that happens, I very much like Burke's chances of getting him.
