I bet less than me. That being said, go look at Mtls PP efficency over the last few years.

Ya and go look at it during the years Markov was healthy. Markov had a greater effect on the pp then Kovalev ever did.

If Streit didn't have the talent to do it own his own without Markov, then he would have flopped on the Island.

Markov may have helped his development in his final year but it hardly defined his career.

So you know THIS, more than those who hold the opposite view know their side.
Got it.

Well, you hate Kovalev, so you're biased.

Sure we can. As Hab fans we know from watching what Markov does to other players. Just because you don't watch what the man does on the ice personally doesn't mean we don't know. Markov healthy, playing a full season is 60 pts in the bank while helping young guys like Yemelin & Subban improve.
- Habsolute009

I don't know what you're saying here.

I don't know even know what this means.

So, Mark Streit was ready to sign a contract for half the amount he got from the Isles, had Montreal been willing to negotiate with him before free agency. Did you know that? Bet you didn't.

Souray? He scored 19 goals thanks to his shot, but mostly thanks to Markov drawing attention and feeding him with brilliant patience.

Schneider extended his career thanks to a month next to Markov on the pp. He was done, otherwise.

MAB? He's still playing in the league... nough said.

Brisebois? Well, I guess that's a bit of a stretch maybe.

Look at the Montreal's powerplay during the periods all those players were here. The only constant was Markov, and they're in the top 5/ leading the league for 4 of 5 years.

I read the bolded word as "stench" at first glance. Probably more appropriate too.

Tampa, Washington and Pittsburgh will all be better.

You'll miss Wiz and Hammer.

- stormey

Tampa, sure. Washington and Pittsburgh are a little harder to call. Pittsburgh, surprisingly enough, hasn't had a top PP in quite a few years, so I somewhat doubt it. Washington, while they are certainly capable of it, certainly didn't show it last year. If they show the PP that cruised along at a 25% pace for a couple of years, then there is no chance the Habs eclipse that. But will they?

Montreal's group of small shifty forwards thrives with the extra open space of a PP. It's 5 on 5, when they easily get pushed around, that they are among the league worst in putting the puck in the net.

It's frustrating to argue the Markov "value" with people on here who hardly watched the man play. How quickly some can forget just how fantastic of a player he is. Still the best player on the Habs when healthy.

some of you are (frank)ing idiots.

Markov makes other players better. it's why Streit and Souray had career years playing with him. it's why Schneider put up big numbers in his 1/4 season with him. that's it. he didn't "make" anyone but he made them better players, because that's what great players do.

just leave it at that.

I'm guessing the conversation went something like this.

EE: Matt you had a great run when you came back to Montreal didn't you?
MS: Yes we really got on a roll there.
EE: What's it like playing with a great player like Markov?
MS: Well like you said he's a great player and is pleasure to play with.

My question is what did you expect him to say? Markov sucks and I did this all on my own? No.

- stormey

Exactly, But Stormee you can't deny those 17 games he played with the Nucks before being sent to the minors. those games were very magical anda ll due to Markovs greatness.

How do I know? I watched Streit when he started with the Habs, and then when he was done with them. It's an opinion based on observation.

Alrighty then.
