Yes I am going to argue about this. You make it out that Markov was some big part in Schneider's career. I knew who you were talking about...I just couldn't believe that you would actually bring up the whole 20 some odd games they played together.
- stormey

He didn't say that at all. Go read it again. Better yet, have someone help you read it.

As I don't see it, explain it to me.
- hscesq

Explain to me how Markov made Streit's career.
Then explain the next two seasons on the Island.

Are you going to expect me to believe that Markov tought him how to play hockey?
Please.....Not a homer at all.

I wouldn't state it as a fact if it were bs.

as for credit to markov, the numbers only support the argument. watch him run the powerplay, all the evidence is there from throughout his career.

- EricEngels

He said it, but I was told it was BS. I was told he didn't really want to discuss anything with Mtl unless he was guaranteed not to play forward. I was told that's where the conversation ended

his main point was that Markov makes those around him better. so, argue that point, or shut up.

I think that after 2 years without Markov, the fans tend to forget what he brings to the team.
- _nay_

Not I. I think he's one of the top D in the league when healthy. I just think it's unfair to some of the guys mentionned, especially Streit, to give all of the credit to Markov.

Listen bud, you're so wrong this isn't even an argument, it's a lesson.

in the 20-odd games Schneider played with the Canadiens in their disastrous Centennial season, he was brought here purely to help the powerplay which suffered from the loss of Mark Streit's shot.

He had 15 points in 44 games with the Thrashers before coming to the Canadiens and scoring 17 points in 23 games. In a pairing with Markov, he scored 5 goals --all of them on the powerplay, and added 12 assists.

He was slated for retirement before he came to Montreal, coming off a 5+mil dollar contract.

In a conversation I had with him after the season, he said coming to Montreal bought him another season in the league, and he had Andrei Markov to thank for it.

I might even still have the audio in my old recorder.

I think its unfair to say Markov didn't help Streit immensely in his development. Markov does in fact make other players around him better. That's what your best players do.

I'm not giving him all the credit, just flip it to suggest that without him, those guys don't make near the money they collected in free agency.

Homer? What does being a Homer have to do with anything?
You see, playing with Markov, made Streit a better player. Have you never heard of such a thing? Why is this a foreign concept for you?

you're completely ridiculous. First you don't know who I'm talking about, as if there was another Schneider on Montreal's powerplay towards the end of his career.

Second, before he came to Montreal and tore his rotator cuff, he was on his way out of the league.

Are you going to make an argument out of this, when I've spoken at length with Mathieu Schneider about it?

- EricEngels

If by extending his career means playing in the AHL I think he could have done that without Markov.

Mtls PP was pretty good the last 2 seasons without Markov.
