Bill, If Richards is not named captain so soon would he still be here today? In your honest opinion, as always.

Thanks for the breakdown.

Can't say for sure, but I think the chances would be higher.

Richards was too busy chasing around Foxy Ladies, and with all the partying he was always in a Purple Haze. He was often late for practice and meetings due to Crosstown Traffic, he just did not have the Experience he needed to be a Captain.

His manic depression will turn into lots of Freedom in LA.

Let me clarify. By monster... i expect him to have a break out year. I see him putting up 30 goals 35 assists.

He started last season off pretty slow. Over the last 68 games of the year (including playoffs) he scored 28 goals.... next closest was Jeff Carter with 27 (over his last 68 games), despite JvR getting the least amount of ice time among top 9 forwards....

- jak521

I hope your right that JVR reaches those totals. I see 25-25 as a good year for him.

averaged a lusty five seconds/game on the pk last year.

So Simmonds might not be able to crack PP time here and he doesn't Kill Penalties...Awesome!

I don't know about PK time, but I would expect him to get some PP time.

I would expect him to get PP time if Hartnell doesn't play a smart game or due to an injury. I'd say Briere, Giroux, JvR, Jagr, Voracek, Hartnell, and I would hope Schenn are ahead of Simmonds.

They're all going to get time in my opinion. Last year 9 forwards averaged more than 1:00 a game on the PP.

I assume the forwards were Richards, Carter, Briere, Giroux, JvR, Hartnell, Versteeg, Zherdev and Leino??

You know, all the vacation shuffling and the Jody being back sometimes made me think someone was leaving. Hopefully they move Anthony to the 3 pm slot and I can be fully happy with whoever they pair with Glen.

LOL, where do I begin? It wasn't oozing from his play. I also watch every game for the most part for years. I have no reason to question his effort. He is the same as he's always been. You haven't given me anything concrete here.
- MJL

So you never noticed Richards lolly gagging around the ice with one hand on his stick, showing absolutely zero effort? Very interesting that you have "watched almost every game"... Hard to believe

Off topic - any of you have advice on Phillies seats? Any sections to avoid? Any thoughts on best value? Never been to CBP.

Thinking of coming up for the 8/27 game, and StubHub seems to have lots of tix. Looking at some Terrace level seats that seem to be a decent price...

I've only been to CBP a few times, but I don't think there is a bad place to sit. Even standing room only tickets are a good time. One of the great American ballparks right now, and a fantastic time.

In all honesty literally anywhere but behind the foul poles. I'm pretty partial to scoreboard porch myself tho...

I disagree with most of that. If there wasn't a Salary Cap and Holmgren hadn't gotten the team to the point of where it was, Richards and Carter would still be on this team.
- MJL

Source? Granted they would have had virtual no wiggle room for extra forwards or injury call ups, they could have signed Bryz and kept both Carter and Richards if they wanted to. Unless you talked to Holmgren personally, we have no way of knowing this or if Snider and Co actually had a say in the trades.

To Everyone:

Just asking what your biggest surprise this year will be.

Mine, Briere scoring 40 goals.
