dogs have long-ass legs* and beavers don't. beavers are stocky. why do we need this comparison. the beaver was on the smaller side for a beaver, probably 20-30lbs.

yeah you can pick them up. some snakes are cranky but you'll know pretty quick when they are lol. they'll totally piss all over you though and it smells. some sort of defensive musk or whatever. it's kinda gross.

we have snakes but i only see one or two a year and they're usually dead in the street.

if i were to go into the woods in the summer i feel like there'd be a lot of them. but i think they're just the long black ones (code) i see dead in the street or the little garter snakes.

any wooded or open grassy area that is relatively close to water will probably be loaded with 'em

do you have poisonous snakes there? there aren't any poisonous snakes here at all luckily. they have massasauga rattlers a couple hours north around the lake huron and georgian bay area but they aren't here. never seen one

if i was driving from here to like atlantic city i bet i'd pass through millions of snakes because you end up driving on one of two highways that cut through miles and miles of thick, zillion year old woods. one of the supposed jersey devil origin theories is that it was named after the volkswagen sized mosquitoes that live in these woods.

i just looked and we have 22 species of snakes and only 2 of them are venomous. the timber rattlesnake and the northern copperhead.
