For the past year, I've been trying to figure out what was wrong with my pup. Every once in a while, he would start hobbling around then go back to normal after a minute or two. I initially thought it was a dislocated kneecap that would fall out of place then pop back in, but the orthopedist said his knees were fine. He thought it might just be arthritis.

The condition subsided for a while, but then came back more recently with more frequency. I began to worry it was a seizure, so I took him in to see the Vet and she said he was showing signs of it being a seizure, but his awareness during the episodes was making her question it. She advised me to go see a neurologist.

I had a wedding this past weekend, so I decided to do it when I got back. The day I got back from the wedding, he began having a bunch of episodes within a short period of time and I began to freak out and worry he'd overheat (seizures aren't life threatening unless you have a several in a row and the dog simply overheats too much). So I rushed him to the ER in Mount Laurel (closest neurologist to me) and they kept him overnight.

The neurologist called this morning and said Korver's case is one of the strangest he's ever had. He believes he's experiencing Dyskinesia, which looks like a seizure, but the dog is completely aware and can still do stuff like bark or hop around. He just kinda loses the ability to move properly. The neurologist, who is admittedly young, said he'd only seen it once before. He even contacted his other neurologist friends and they all agreed with the diagnosis and asked if I would send the videos to them for their own use in case they came across something similar in the future. Even his former professor was shocked to see it.

Dyskinesia is not life threatening unless there is something wrong in his brain. It's most likely just hereditary. We're going to schedule an MRI to be sure. The problem is that there isn't a cure or treatment for it because it's so rare. There are only experimental drugs (which we're starting him on tonight). Outside of the episodes, he seems completely normal. Runs around the house, chases my other dog, eats his food, barks at the neighbors' dogs.

Anyway, my wife and I have been totally stressed lately with a million things and this took us both over the edge. We literally cried together while flipping through pictures of him on my phone last night. I was sure it was seizures and if it was seizures, it was likely the result of a major problem. So getting this news was such a relief.

P#1 has a new cat to replace her beloved emmie who lived to the age of 20. Not much of a cat guy but they little (frank)er is cute af. his name is bandit. pics will be shown sometime in the future.

oh.. poop. well, at least the pup is okay-ish. otherwise this would have been realllllyyy awkward.

Iggy is just 5 and there are moments I wake up in sheer terror thinking about that day cause i know its me going in and i am going to be blubbering like an idiot.

my grandmother had a beautiful black dog named trapper and he had seizures. he lived a long, pretty normal life. i thought maybe that'd make you feel better or something but i'm not sure how feelings work.
