Congratulations to Jeremy Roenick and Derian Hatcher for their inductions into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame. I assume Roenick will also be inducted into the "big" Hall in Toronto but seeing as how players like Adam Oates and Joe Nieuwendyk just fell short of induction on the first ballot, I wouldn't be so quick to proclaim Roenick an automatic first-ballot inductee in Toronto.

Living 1 hour from Toronto in the heart of "Leaf Nation" when JR scored in OT over Eddie Belfour's shoulder which also happens to be the last time the Leafs were in the playoffs he went right in to my hall of fame.

The 20 or so idiot Leaf fans I was with (not calling all Leaf fans this just those 20) all fell silent and were in shock!

It's was pure brilliance!

I'm both interested and scared to find out what the plan is for next offseason.

Then again, it has seemed, for the most part, that there was no "plan" this offseason.

Check out the goalie and defense scene and try to upgrade then trade a forward and sign one on the cheap as a replacement. Go to the cottage and wait for September 17th.

Seems clear.

The DVD of that game is one of my favorites to pop in to watch when I start jonesing for hockey during the summer.

And I still get excited during that last shift of that game, even though I know exactly what is going to happen.

GOALS!

Carter - 40 plus

Richards - 30 plus

Briere - 30

Leino - 25 plus

Zherdev - 25 plus

Hartnell - 25

van Reimsdyk - 20 plus

Giroux - 20

This these are the goals I expect from these players but one or two of these guys may get hurt, which may keep them from reaching these goals.

I'm on board with you except I think JVR caps out around 18 but I'm hoping to be wrong. I also expect a BIG year from Danny now that he is a center again.

No need to waive Bartulis, as he is waiver exempt and can still be sent back and forth to the minors.

There is also really no need to waive Cote until the end of the preseason, both to have an extra player to dress and to extend the opportunity (however slim) that another NHL club -- presumably one that has an enforcer get injured in the preseason -- would be willing to trade for Cote (who makes a modest salary on the cap). If there are no takers, he will be waived and spend the season in the AHL.

Walker won't be waived. They will carry him as the 7th defenseman, stepping in occasionally for O'Donnell or when there are injuries in the top 5.

The Flyers insist that they are done looking for goalies and are no longer interested in Turco. Not sure I buy it, but that's the party line.

Also as far as Waiving Cote now. With the exception of the Waiver period before the draft during the buyout period, there are no Waivers during the off season. The Waiver period doesn't start until 12 days before the regular Season I beleive.

Watching Lindros hold out for a season was rough. Watching LeClair get bought out was rough. Watching Roenick get replaced by Forsberg was rough. Gagne is right up there on that list for me. Moving forward though, our line up is as impressive as ever. This time around the Flyers have depth on top of depth. If its possible to keep Boucher in the minors while signing Turco, I truly believe its a move that needs to be made.

All possible, but I'm inclined to say these are best case scenarios. Except Carter, if he puts it together I bet he could hit fifty. If he puts it together, which is likely considering it's a philadelphia player in a contract year.

It's possible but it's more likely they'll trade Boucher than to bury him in the minors. Although the later the Season goes, the better the chances that they'll have to waive, and if he clears, demote Boucher. As teams get their roster set. The latest I heard, and I don't know how factual it is, is that Turco is still looking for a long term deal. I wouldn't sign Turco to anything more than a 1 year deal. Take it or leave it.
