dopps what are youre honest thoughts on this?

ive had to deal with it directly through my work so im interested in your view.

honestly i do think its mostly people overreacting, but i also definitely see the other side as well.

i always come back to this one question: would you walk into a native american community and say "hello Redskins" ?

if the answer is no, then they should just (frank)ing change the name already.

and even if only 10% of them consider it offensive.. thats still 520,000 native americans...a sports team name shouldnt be offending anyone, regardless of how it originated.

the term Negro wasnt offensive at one point but now it is. times change.

love how you initially pretended this post was to solicit dopps' opinion and then twisted it into an opportunity to get on your soapbox.

Also why the (frank) would anyone walk into a native American community?

Negro just means black. Absolutely nothing offensive there. Black people refer to themselves as black all the time, so does everyone else. Are we banning the freedom to use other languages?
-Glenn "dopps" Beck.

Edit: and a 10 year old study, covering under 800 natives- fans of the team, is not a basis to say that 90% of Native Americans in the US are OK with the name.

I guess no one was offended by my use of Whiteskins.

Perhaps if someone told you that your were susposed to be offended, then perhaps you would be.

I bevel in the Importance of Being Earnest, and when I see a spade I call it a spade.

Now I guess someone could twist the true meaning, and intention of that phrase, into something that suits their agenda, and thereby infer that I'm being racist...............but it is they who see racism in that phrase from an Oscar Wilde play from 1895, making them the racist.

Does whiteskins refer to the scalps of white people that were sold to trading posts as part of a genocide?
