Interesting idea. Does Dopps do fiction? I've only observed his radical non-fiction interests on here.

be grateful you didn't have to suffer through History of Quebec and Canada

basically like this

semester one: the fur trade

all other semesters: Canada is evil, poor Quebec.

- dt99999

Yes.

Failed that class, along with 80% of my class, went to summer school got 98% on the exam.

I can still remember the three words my teacher wrote on the board when she thought us about the Irish immigrating to Canada:
U2
Irish
Potato

Also we watched a movie about natives that was 70% soft core porn. She kept 3 tubs of cocoa butter on or near her desk.

we're opposites there. US/Canadian history was boring as poop... world history was awesome.

It's the thought of Dopps travelling around in a high end RV educating the content about the global warming hoax, among other things, that I find hilarious.

Education/RV- and you're accusing others of false equivalencies.

There isn't a right to higher education, no, but there should be for the country to prosper. People aren't equal, but they should be given equal opportunities.

Setting up a system where the wealthy have easier access to education, and therefore better job prospects created the ever-growing wage gap, which makes the problem worse and worse, and leads to an oligarchy, not a democracy... which is where we are now. The rich rule, the poor suffer, and the shortsighted cheer it on.

- Feeling Glucky?

You're right, people aren't equal.

Some are able to learn the skills required to earn a better living than others.

Some have higher intelligence than others. But all have equal opportunities to be the best they can be within their own limits.

Not everyone is going to have what it takes to play professional sports, become a corporate lawyer or own and run their own businesses..........because as you clearly pointed out people are not equal.

My grandfather came to this Country and worked for CN, and made sure his Son had better opportunities than he did. My father had a choice, he was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers right out of college, but decided to join the Armed forces and made sure his family had better opportunities than he had.

Consequently I've done the same for my child. People have to make responsible choices in life, to better their, and their children chances and opportunities in life. Government's role is not to level the playing field, propping up some people and holding down the rest.

There is a system of Government, that you seem to be favouring, and it's called Communism

Capitalism, and the free market system may not be perfect, but it sure beats the heck of whatever system might be in second place.

No.
You need to do a lot of reading on communism if you think what I suggested is it.

But good job on not addressing anything outside of a tiny snippet of the post.

Hey Dopps, I could probably afford the payments on an RV. I want you to know I don't necessarily think I'm better than you, however.

Seattle councillors unanimously voted to increase the minimum wage in their city to $15 per hour, which would make it the highest in U.S.

The issue has dominated politics in the liberal municipality for months, and a boisterous crowd of mostly labour activists packed the Council chambers for the vote. Mayor Ed Murray, who was elected last year, had promised in his campaign to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. A newly-elected socialist councillor had pushed the idea as well.

“We did it. Workers did this," said Kshama Sawant, who refers to herself as a socialist. "We need to continue to build an even more powerful movement."

Councillor Tom Rasmussen said "Seattle wants to stop the race to the bottom in wages" and address the "widening gap between the rich and the poor.”

Minimum wage is currently $9.32 an hour, the Washington state minimum wage, which is itself the highest minimum wage of any state. The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour

The measure, which would take effect on April 1, 2015, includes a phase-in of the wage increase over several years, with a slower process for small businesses. The plan gives businesses with more than 500 employees nationally at least three years to phase in the increase. Those providing health insurance will have four years to complete the move. Smaller organizations will be given seven years.

The International Franchise Association, a Washington, D.C.-based business group that represents franchise owners, said it plans to sue to stop the ordinance.

"The City Council's action today is unfair, discriminatory and a deliberate attempt to achieve a political agenda at the expense of small franchise business owners," the group said in a statement.
