This is an actual play in a game, and typical of Cortnall overall.

He took a pass just below the circle in his zone, skated full speed, skated around a few players into the opposition zone. Then winded up for a slapshot, missed the net by 3-4 feet, the puck went all the way down into the Habs zone. Courtnal was the first Habs player back to get the puck, skated up the ice, skated around a few other players into the opposition zone, took a shot and missed th net once again.

I am not joking.

and you guys think Higgins has a problem finding the net....

- JDJ

I think I actually remember that. At least he wasn't Petrov, I've never seen a pro over skate the puck so many times.

He knows where they're located. He's just having a hard time getting the puck in it

your comment was the ineffectiveness of laraque against Lucic. That game he was effective.
- habby

Lucic is already 10 times the player Laraque ever was or will ever be. Laraque was on his back all night, and when he got a chance he scored, the bruins win. End of story.

Another question: Last year, when Laraque was playing in Pittsburgh, did you ever said to yourself "Damn I'd like to have that guy with the habs"?

I know I didn't.

I don't understand a word of that. whats it about?

They got glass bits in their drinks and nachos when the glass broke, didn't enjoy the game because the kid got a cut on his hand, and now they have nightmares and can't sleep and are asking for tons of money.

Basically the guy had front row tickets with his son, for a game on febuary 3rd of last year. Francis Bouillon broke the glass in front of them with strong shot, and he is sueing the Montreal Canadiens for 53 000$ because he and his son are still traumatized by the event, and are still having nightmares at night.
- stinger67

Hey that happened to me in Edmonton a few years back. We were sitting right beside the goal judge and Craig MacTavish (i guess a few more then few years) took a slap shot, and busted the glass in front of us............I'm rich as I am going to sue those bastards....

Your missing the whole point. Laraque was on the bench when Lucic scored. Up until that point Lucic had been ineffective.

And I think your underestimating Lucic if you think he's only 10 times the player BGL is.

And yes, I said it a ton of times last season that I would love to have BGL. You do realize we're discussing a 4th liner right?

Why so extreme? No middle ground? He hasn't been great, for a 4th liner, but he hasn't been terrible either. What exactly were you expecting from him?

Slow movement, almost no fisticuffs, missed shifts, and zero offense. He really should be satisfied.

fair enough. I'd definetly like to see him drop em more, but I also find that mtl isn't being manhandeled as much as last season. Could just be my perception though.

Ok I admit it. I'm trying to talk myself out of the fact that Gainey might have made a mistake. he can do no wrong IMO.

BGL,Bougard,Brashear,etc..... could be way more effective, if they get rid of the instigator rule. Although, if BGL wants to be more effective he should get into shape.

Well, perhaps the concept was there, but so far, not much value. Doesn't mean that your point isn't correct, and perhaps there is less manhandling, or perhaps at some point, he may prove his worth. But so far....eh.

If BGL forced the issue with a couple of people he'd be worth the $. I can't understand why he doesn't. Surely Carbo hasn't told him "use your 4 minutes a game to speak chummily with other teams enforcers then get off the ice." Who gives a #$% about the instigator rule? Lucic needs to have that mug restored to human semblance for instance...
