Maybe, but when you consider Kovalev is probably not coming back next year, Halak will always be a backup here and that Chipchura seems to be out of the plans, maybe not. - Mike Komisarek
Giving away Chipchura would be a mistake. |

I know dammit. But why the hell is he not with the Habs at the moment? Lang will NOT be with us next year. Why not give Chipchura NHL experience this season! |

That little stretch when ATL tied up the game is indicative of the problems so far this season (The fact the we think there's problems makes me laugh but that's another story) There's times when Mtl plays like they're entitled. It's almost as bad as some fans on this site. I read one guy the other day say "Before the season I was certain we'd win the cup. Now I'm less sure" And that's what I see from the habs. There's times they stop playing as if the game is guaranteed. - habby
Yep. You would think, that based on how poorly they've played, when they got up 3-0, they would push the pedal all the way down, and build on perhaps a 5 or 6-0 win. But they just coasted. |

Honestly, that's the weak part of the trade.
But I think the trade with PHX could be interesting. |

Hey, not at all. I'm first generation canadian. Cherry is a zenophobic idiot. What I meant is that we need some skilled grit, we have enough finesse. A guy like Kovalchuk would fit the bill. I just want someone who'll play with some jam in the playoffs. I still think this team is lacking that. |

What about gritty Euros, in the vein of a Zetterberg, Franzen, Pahlsson, etc.?
Grit knows no supranational affiliation; neither does soft. |

Odd result, no? - hscesq
Ya odd just about sums it up. For someone who just looked at the score would say we struggled. But for those of us that watched the game saw the habs play good hockey for about 50-53 mins. |

i liked the plekanec and koivu lines. not so much the lang line. land and kovalev are waaaaay too slow to play together. - DoubleDown
I would swap Kosto and Higgins, and leave it at that...
Lang may be to slow, or perceived to be, but Kovalev is not skating - unless there is an open net or he wants to make a selfish rush into the zone (that fails) - so it really does not mean too much at this point. |

It's not serious hate. I just don't like the way he slows down the 4th line.
He's not worth the 1.5 mil. per year he's getting. Not even close. - asp1986
Yes he is. He's 1.5 mil worth of swagger for the team that they didn't have last year. I think it's worth every penny.
You can't consider BGL's salary the way you do say Chris Higgins. Higgy's salary is measured by points; BGL's is measured in unstatistical ways. |

So far, he hasn't intimidated anyone. He tries to stick up for teammates but nobody will go with him, and he does not force the issue.
When you play on the fourth line, you better be ready to play at any time, not miss your shift.
I think Carbo will sit him in the press box for a couple of games. |

Well I completely disagree. We don't need a goon that fights goons and can't hit cuz he's too slow. We need grit and speed (see the Wings and Buffalo games).
Laraque will fight Boogard. Big effin' deal. He tried to intimidate Lucic the other night, well guess what, Lucic scored anyway. Laraque is as useless as they come imho. |

BGL gets his face in there, but no one seems to be willing to get into it with him (at least without BGL getting some extra minutes)... at some point the Habs are just gonna have to eat a few instigator penalties and force BGL to be more agressive about using his fists.
When you have a guy like BGL on your team, you have to be prepared to eat those instigators.
Otherwise, there is no point in signing him.

I'm tired of this illusion. Lucic was invisible when BGL was on the ice. BGL was on the bench when Lucic scored. His value will be shown later in the season. |

I don't hate him. I just think he should make things happen. Not ask if the other guy wants to dance. Of course the other guy will say no. Hit Lucic like a beast and he'll get pissed fast enough you wont have to ask him to dance. |
