I don't know if I'd call Kadri/Turris a tie.

At least, not the Kadri from last year who played solid shut-down hockey, while scoring 30 goals.

I was surprised to see Marleau/Marner out as the 3rd PK pairing. Didn't realize Marleau would instantly gain Babcock's trust that much as a two way player.

Babcock used Marleau as a shutdown guy at the Olympics twice.

Hell, before he moved to wing and became a sniper, Marleau was used as a 2-way C for years.

What would you rather have as your top line?

Smith - Turris - Hoffman

or

Marleau - Kadri - Komarov

Triumphalism is not a disorder. It is really just a case of bad judgment.

Last night on a TSN panel they wanted to discuss Canadian teams, specifically how would you rank them. The host wanted the discussion to focus on who is better Edmonton or Toronto. Gord Miller ruined the panel by saying Oil first Sens second.

You guys need to listen to how the insiders are shaping their comments. The best one last night is the Leafs have three really good defense men. And, the opposite of that is they have three defense men that are not.................

Gord Miller's key point was that the Senators had an unbelievable number of injuries last year. They had to constantly improvise around the injuries. So, there is good reason to believe that Senators are really more like the team we saw in the playoffs.

The other point Miller made was the Leafs had few injuries. Hard to imagine them not experiencing problems if a key forward or Dman goes down.

Mostly, I think TSN is just beginning to cover against a potential backlash from fans if Leafs struggle coming out of the gate.

Lead the NHL it hits last season.

The Sens sign defenceman Mark Borowiecki to a two-year contract extension that carries an AAV of $1.2 million ($1.2M in both years)

Common trait of players that have these super-high hit counts?

The other team tends to have the puck when they're on the ice.

Enjoy!

There is a huge fight coming.

Melnyk has offended just about every season ticket holder, especially most of the corporate interests. He owes money all over town and gets upset when the guys that he owes start to push back.

I think the building of the new arena has come to a serious impasse. Everything is in place to do it. It includes hotels, shopping areas, restaurants and entertainment facilities. The actual arena sits on top of the crossover station of the LRT which begins operations next year.

There is huge money on the sidelines wanting to participate in the project. All the government agencies are on side. Yet, and I am guessing, nobody wants to partner with Melnyk.

Again, I am only guessing but Ottawa Sports and Entertainment (Redblacks) have huge development money and experience behind them. They did the highly successful renewal project on Landsdowne Park.

Again, I don't know this for certain but I think the NHL is as sick of Melnyk as is the entire city of Ottawa.

Now honestly does this ugly excuse for a hockey player make the AHL squad if he is in the Leaf's organizaton? Doops? I mean he was a late 5th rounder and plays like it too. Has scored 17 points in 217 NHL games.
