So you failed to answer my questions. Not shocking. This tells me you too feel the leafs are in a better situation.
- systemtool

What part of my answer to your question did you not understand?

The team that went three rounds (19 games) deep into the playoffs (the most recent NHL games that count) had the better roster.

Ottawa (in the playoffs) GF/GP 2.47 GA/GP 2.63 Diff. 0.16

leafs (in the playoffs) GF/GP 2.67 GA/GP 3.00 Diff. 0.33

The leafs had a higher (negative) goal differential than the Senators did.

"you make your predictions of the future matter"

That's literally what the thread is about.

You use the past season as a reference guide. Take all factors into it. Where each team was slated to finish before the season started and where they ended up at the end of it.

Leafs were expected to finish dead last in the league. Sens were predicted to be, at worst, a wild card team.

Both teams made the playoffs.

Goal differential. Age of the teams star players going forward.

Leafs scored more than they allowed, all while playing some of the most exciting hockey you'll ever see. Sens allowed more than they scored, all while playing the most boring brand of hockey you'll ever see.

Leafs had the greatest rookie crop in the history of the league. The Sens are old as dirt.

You look at the playoffs outcome. How far a team went and how they did it.

Leafs lost in 6 games (5 games went to OT) to the Presidents Trophy winning Washington Capitals.

The Sens went to the conference finals. They played a Bruins team that was missing 50 (frank)ing % of it's blueline. They played a Rangers team that had the lead and outplayed them every game until the final minutes when Lundqvist would poop the bed. And they played a decimated Penguins lineup.

And the Sens did it all on the back of Anderson standing on his head.

the part where they gave up more goals then they scored. the only team to do so. thats a hard thing to fluke on.

most teams who surrender more to the opponent than the get themselves dont succeed. without a ton of fluke luck

so were ignoring the 82 games before that? must be another one of your "12 year" things.

https://www.sportingchart...m-goal-differential/2016/

these stats must be from 13 years ago or more. and it was more than the smaller playoff sample size so obviously they dont count.

But Spatso guaranteed Chabot would make the team out of camp and contribute right away. Now he's starting in the minors? I'm confused.

History is important...... Only certain parts of history, ones of my choosing. Like the playoffs last year, but not necessarily the regular season. And the last 12 years, but certainly not 13 - 50yrs ago. Do not mention those years at all, they were icky. But don't forget 80 yrs ago.....

So yeah stoopid loaf fans picking and choosing. Be like dopes and not cherry pick what and when things are relevant.

Like I said ............ when leaf fans won't count what matters, they make what they can count matter ............. but it matters only to them.
- D0PPELGANGER

The thread is not about the past, but the Leafs win that discussion, HUGE unless you hand pick a timeframe that suits you.

In terms of the present, you have Karlsson. We are up in every other aspect of an organization.

If you can't debate that, (you can't), then save yourself the humiliation and go take a break for a while.

past.

Is this thread about the past. You better hope not because the debate becomes even more lopsided in favour of the Leafs... unless you handpick timeframes that suit you and ignore stuff you don't like.

ZERO cups EVER.

0-4 vs. Leafs

What an absurd question. The Leafs literally the deepest talent pool in the NHL when it comes to young forwards looking to make the NHL roster. They have many young, skilled defenders and a potential all-star goaltender who is still just 27 years of age. The future is bright for Toronto, especially since moving the hefty contracts of Kessel and Phaneuf out of town.

The Leafs have one of the brightest futures of all the NHL teams.
