RHP Carlos Zambrano is scheduled to start for the IronPigs when the team hosts the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. in the opening game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Park. Zambrano was signed by the Phillies as a Minor League free agent on May 15 and has impressed in his first three lower level Minor League starts by going 2-0 with a 0.55 ERA.

CARLOS IS READY TO GO

Zambrano, making his fourth minor league start since signing as minor league free agents on May 15, hit the 100-pitch mark in five innings, throwing 101 while facing 23 batters. He struck out five but walked four, and allowed eight of the final 15 batters he faced to reach base.

The 32-year-old former National League all-star, who has 132 wins in 12 major league seasons, retired the first eight RailRiders but stranded runners at the corners in the third. An inning later, He walked three, including the leadoff hitter and one with the bases loaded, and gave up two hits in the fourth when Scranton scored both their runs off him, and struck out leadoff hitter Walter Ibarra to keep it a two-run game.

In his four starts, Zambrano has now allowed only 14 hits and three earned runs in 21 1/3 innings, but has also walked 11.
