Woodcroft should not be on the shortlist. As I mentioned on the other blog….with AM and Willie getting raises and JT and Marner still here, the new coach will have less to work with next year! That would be setting him up for failure 1st year. JT and/or Marner have to go and if Marner is extended, my nightmare scenario, it cannot be a full NMC. Leafs are too thin in too many places. Look a the goalie talent in the teams remaining, and none of them have 4 players making 53% of cap. Leafs recipe doesn’t work, so do something about it. Vegas rebuilds on the fly, Rangers, Canucks, Florida. Leafs are operating like fossils.

Don’t think Leaf’s consider Q, but also don’t think it would be a huge deal. I don’t pretend to know the details of the situation in Chicago but, it would be addressed 1st news conference and done. Q has been out of the game for too long now, so I think it’s a non topic.
Hire Berube. Then announce Babcock and Q as his assistants. At that stage, approach Marner and ask him to waive his NMC. Maybe he can treated as a god in another city?
