My lady is Type I like Clarkie. She's had it since she was a kid. If her blood sugar is out of range she can get irritable. If it's way out of range she goes cuckoo. And over time the diabeetus causes cumulative brain damage.

Even eczema can cause cumulative nerve damage, and the brain is a tangle of nerves. What I meant is that it is not a typical hazard. I know zillions of geriatrics with diabetes sharp as a tack. But maybe Type 1 is different, but you didn't say type 1...

Celebrini is that good.

Also recency bias.

And trying to sell subscriptions to his draft coverage. No ones paying if the draft is considered hot garbage.

Those geriatrics you're talking about were probably diagnosed later in life. And Type II is much more easily managed/controlled. Not as much effect on the brain.

Clarke is Type I. He's had it for 60+ years. And there weren't exactly continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps when he was 12 to help keep things within range. The quality of insulin has changed over time as well. He's had fingers amputated so I'm guessing there's quite a bit of cumulative damage with him.

Most were type 2, if that is what you mean. But most had many decades with it. I know people with peripheral neuropathy, myriad ailments, wheelchair bound but still very very sharp. I have type 2 diabetes btw, as did most males on my dad's side.

Is it confirmed that Clarkie had a finger amputated due to Diabetes complications?

IIRC it was related. Maybe Bill can chime in if it's not true.

Diabetes runs in Homer’s family as well. At least two of his family members passed due to diabetes/complications.

Go after Brady Tkachuk. Extended Konecny, Sanheim and Bonk for Tkachuk and their 2nd rounder this year.

My son is a type 1 diabetic. He is hyperglycemic...meanng he tends to trend high with his blood glucose. If he is high, he gets a head ache, nauseated, cranky. if he goes low, below 4.0 bg, in Canada, he tends to not be able to think straight, loses control of his arms and legs, and gets really disoriented. He has gone low like that once in 11 years of being a type 1. Ended up in the hospital.

Konecny and Tkachuk’s production isn’t that far off and Ottawa needs defensemen who play on the right side.

Goals per game last two season:
Konecny 0.508 and 0.434. Tkachuk 0.427 and 0.457.

Points per game: Konecny 1.017 and 0.895. Tkachuk 1.012 and 0.914.

Not to get pedantic, he was just musing aloud but you can't diagnose. CTE when alive, 75 doesnt explain Clarkie style takes and diabetes => Clarkie views either.

He is just suffering from Flyeritis. It is behavioral not physiological.

More insight from McKenzie on his rankings yesterday. Basically, there is a consensus on who the top 15 prospects in the draft, but the rankings are all over the place. From his experience, this draft is one of the most unsettled rankings he has seen after speaking with scouts. I find that interesting. I guess good luck trying to figure out who will make it to the Flyers @ 12.

Highly doubt Ottawa would even think about it before saying not a chance.

Brady has put up 157 points, 72 goals in his last 163 games....TK has 127 points in his last 136..64 goals.

Tkachuk is younger, bigger, the captain, and has cost certainty for 4 more years at just over $8.2 cap hit. TK is unknown.

Makes absolutely no sense for ottawa to trade their captain for a pending ufa.

Except he is reportedly unhappy and rumors are his has cause some stress behind the scenes the last couple of seasons. His no movement clause kicks in after next season so if they feel he is a part of the culture problem up there they have 1 calendar year to move him before they lose most of their leverage.

Unless he really is a problem behind the scenes he isn’t being moved but a package around Konecny isn’t that off for a team that desperately wants to compete and doesn’t just want picks and prospects.
