Marner fills that right shot PP hole nicely. But I don't think we realistically can make a trade for him.

Elevating Harkins, who got out scored by guys like Nieto, Gruden, Hinostroza, Shea, and oh yeah, Jarry though is the stupidest suggestion ever and disqualifies you from saying what the team needs.

- Tojo.

When it’s between DOC and Harkins? Yes I’m elevating the one that can control and move the puck down low, and has some vision.

This is his oddest one yet. Not only did he not score a goal, Harkins doesn't even do the grit boner stuff like fight or throw a bunch of hits. He doesn't even kill penalties or get any special teams time. What is there to like? And what value does he bring?

You ever like play hockey before? It’s a fast game and feel like you can’t really keep up watching.

Hammering O’Connor for questionable ability to finish at the beginning of the season was a spot-on critique.

Yet, O’Connor improved as the season progressed. He’s been a productive scorer in college and in the AHL and has shown the ability to learn. He finishes his checks and sticks his nose in to win puck battles and he has the size.

You jump on others with the classic bully “did you ever play hockey” or “the game appears too fast for you” lines which are amusing especially when you are also promoting Jansen Harkins.

Realistically, you should expect a Kessel-like deal. Marner is a better player than Kessel was in 2015, but Marner has a full NMC and 1 year left. I believe Kessel had just signed a new deal and only had a limited NTC.

So I'd expect a package to look like:

Pickering
2025 Lottery Protected Pick or Carolina's 1st if we get that
One of the NHL ready Carolina prospects we acquired
NHL player

I wouldnt make that trade unless Marner agrees to a new contract, but if he did in the $8.5-$9.5M range, I'd do that deal in a second.

- SuperHenderson13

Marner makes $10.9M/year now, why would he sign a new deal for only ~$9M/year? He'll get around $11M/year from somebody.

I’m not promoting anyone. I don’t work for the Penguins. Like I’ve said. Not really a fan of either just a point of reference. I’m not bullying anyone. People on here are just so narrow minded towards the game. I’m a thinker, a visionary if you will.

You are right, Marner is not going anywhere unless he has an extension for north of $10M signed before he goes. And I certainly hope we are not in the conversation for anything like that.

I heard a Marner post season interview and he made a comment about how "we are viewed kind of like Gods here..." and went on to say nothing about how embarassing his play was whatsoever. That is exactly why that team is never going to do anything. I know Matthews/Marner/Nylander are still young, but they still act like they are teenagers. Toronto is screwed if they don't break them up.

The games Nylander felt like playing he was playing playoff hockey. Mathew’s is just kind of going to be the same every game no matter what. Marner is just a little female dog. In no way shape or form for any reason does Marner need to come to the Pens. Sign Harkins for league minimum and call it a day.

I would only do that deal if it DOES NOT come with a new contract. If I am taking a softie like him, I want him to be playing like his future finances depend on it.

When Nylander is the guy on your bench yelling at players to toughen up, you know you are the softest team ever....

Id rather try to get Harkins locked up for 5-6 years at $2M. He is primed for a breakout, top 6 potential written all over him...

The truly ahead of its time, visionary thinking that leads one to believe throwing a 26 year old with 27 career points into the top 6 will lead to more success than Drew OConnor’s 16 goals.

Yeah, none of them ever say "I need to be better" or anything like that. (The Pens players like Rust and Ned say it all the time, even when they're very good in the game.)

I just don't see Marner making any sense for the Pens. Too much money and term for a soft winger. (I.e. he'll only waive the NMC with an extension in place that will be for way too much money and term.)

I also don't get the PLD talk, since that contract is terrible. We can bury Graves in the AHL for a cap hit of just over $3M/year, no need to make a bigger problem than that when trading him.

If there's a big trade out there that does make sense, then by all means go for it, but just clearing out Smith and signing a few middle-6 guys on 4-year deals would also be acceptable.

DK on his Daily Shot for the Pens was talking about how Dubas and Spezza were really high on St.Ivany before he came up, and that they gave away Ruh (for nothing really) to clear that spot out for St.I to play (implying that Sully would've just kept playing Ruh, so Dubas removed that obstacle).

Sully is pretty close to getting the boot If Dubas feels he needs to trade players because of his rote tendencies.

More evidence that Sully is 180 degree opposite of the coach he was when he got here.

There are these 2 boys who were fishing on the banks of Connoquenessing Creek.

One boy, from Ellport, remarked that being a visionary must be very difficult. He went on to say much more and added that ‘visionaries are seldom understood in their lifetime.’

The other boy, from Ellwood City, replied, "Then you must be a visionary, cause I have no idea wtf you’re talking about!"

Haven’t seen this term since undergrad. We use it in geology to refer to a long, expansive rock type.

Nothing else to talk about other than our 1.5% chance at 4th! lol… I’d shotgun a beer if that happened.

I just watch for different than you do that I believe lead to success. I've seen no evidence you are able to identify what makes a successful player. We'll see how Harkins does. If he breaks out here or somewhere else, I might take you a little more seriously. If he doesn't, kind of confirms you don't know what you're talking about. Deal?

I called DOC for 12-15 goals and 30 points before the season, is that visionary enough?
