The problem is torts is too good to get them to tank properly. He squeezes wins out of a talentless roster - bradster
They have the 26th best record in a 32 team league with him as coach. I don't think any coach would have got them in the bottom four instead of one of CBJ, Anaheim, Chicago and San Jose.

Tortorella’s message got old by the end of the year. He used all his bullets and got no response. The season could go off the rails very easily and very early next year. |

How did he do in the KHL last season? - Dkos

We thought that this season. Not necessarily "tank" but no one was thinking 3rd in the metro in parts of March. - Pelle31Forever

Pending any other moves, the Flyers are already at the cap ceiling and would have to put Ellis or Johansen on LTIR to start next season.
https://www.capfriendly.c.../armchair-gm/team/5067256
But a buyout of Atkinson would save them $3,516,666 in 24-25 while costing them $1,758,334 in 25-26.

Excellent!
1-They can now be like Tampa and Vegas and go way over the cap 😁
2-They can’t do anything stupid like offer Stamkos a 7 yr $10 mil per in FA!
3-They will be forced to play the kids because they are cheap!
4-They will have a full year to see if the combo of Ersson and Fedotov is NHL worthy!
5-Instead of Staal and Johnson, maybe they’ll be forced to play the whole year with Attard and Ginning as the 3rd pair!
As a bonus, as long as they don’t do anything stupid with long term contracts, by the time Michkov and Bonk are ready to play in the NHL, all those bad contracts of Atkinson, Peterson, and Risto will be off the book! This is a win win and maybe then they can add veteran piece or two to component these young hopefully stars in the making. |

sure, if they had the same compete as when G and Jake were here, they wouldve been bottom 5 for sure. |

what kids? as to me they really do not have any true 18-19 year old "kids".
cant see them having both attard/ginning at all. Hell maybe not even one of them. Guess depends what they do with Zamula as 5 spots are already locked up on D.
Even up front spots pretty much set unless trades pr UFA signings.
Will be interested to see who gets bought out and what RFA no qualified league wide.

Agree on the first 2, but the Isles are right where they should be. Bubble team, out 1st rd. Might not even win 1 vs. Carolina

The only teams I think that are a good bet that the Flyers will better than going into next year is Chicago, San Jose, Columbus and Anaheim. Everyone else I think could finish ahead of the Flyers next season. |

Next year could be a huge disaster especially if they move out some of the popular players in the lockerroom. Would be the best thing for the franchise. |

Scares me to death that they will use that as reasoning to NOT move them. |

its beating a dead horse though we know who they aint moving. Can take a very good guess on who is moved.
For the record I do not think Frost is moved. |

A smart Gm would,
Trade TK either at the draft or early in season to avoid an injury situation.
Trade Sanheim and Calgary would be a good spot and Winnipeg as the back up.
Trade Laughton most likely a TDL move to a contender.
Explore trades on any player not named Frost, York, Farabee, Drysdale, Cates, Foerster, Tippett. These players would be the ones i build my team around maybe add vets on 1 year contracts to flip at the TDL.
Also i would check to see what the cost would be to move up in the draft for one of the elite 4 defensemen available. |

I would listen to offers on everyone of them. that is not a good core to build around.

I think anyone not named Owen Tippet can be traded.
I hope we see Michkov.
What is the book on Bonk? Some people are making him sound like the second coming of Makar. I thought he had a 2nd pair ceiling.
I'm not concerned with the goalie position. Let's see what Drago's got. |
