Rocky wasn't with the Sharks in 2021-22... remember he stepped down because he couldn't/wouldn't take the Covid vaccine.
So his NHL record is actually:
20-21 14.1 (third worst in the league)
22-23 15.6% (last in the league)
23-24 12.2% (last in the league) - Tomahawk
Maybe Aaron Rodgers can coach the PP. |

Part of being a team player is working with management and the coaches, not just the players. And they recommended another year in college. It's no secret he didn't want to go back. Analysts weighed in and said it was the best thing for him. So who's right?
The points I made are in defense of Flyers' management. I will admit this, despite these circumstances they should have found a way to work it out - Before things got dysfunctional. - BluehorseShoe64
So you're saying he wasn't ready?
He played in the world Championships with NHLers the following month and put up 9 points in 10 games. They came back in May of the same year offering him a contract starting in September.
So he wasn't ready in March but was in May....ok.. |

That is horrendous. But yeah, the Flyers will just have a Koom by Yah with the advisors and get this fixed in the offseason.

Remember the Evander Kane story?
In an interview with TSN in Canada that aired Thursday, Kane said he was challenged to a fight by the coach at one point last season after a power-play meeting. Kane didn’t say the coach’s name, but Thompson was a Sharks associate last season responsible for the Sharks’ power play.
“We were just giving our opinions on what we can do better, and I gave my opinion at one point in time, and I think our assistant coach, he maybe didn’t agree with it,” Kane said with a small laugh. “Anyway, the meeting was over, we’re all kind of getting ready, chatting afterward, and he comes back into the locker room with his shirt off, flexing and kind of being all hype and whatnot, and challenging me to a fight.
“So it was interesting. I actually didn’t respond. Some of the guys are laughing, thought it was funny. I thought he was joking around, to be honest. I didn’t think he was being serious. It was surprising for an assistant coach to do that.”
Guy wants to go tarps off when he hears a suggestion he doesn't like and the Flyers expected him to be good at his job? How are you able to improve if your ego is that fragile?
Also keep hearing people say he's "smart" but his whole claim to fame was a presentation he made at the '15 NHL coaches conference where he just repackaged a lot of info from Steve Valiquette and Tyler Dellow. NHL coaches, being pretty clueless about data back then, thought the revelations were coming from Rocky. |

Just accept the fact Rocky will be a Flyer for life. First off his name is ROCKY and he probably took his shirt off and challenged everyone to fight already. No one is going to want to give him the news he was let go.
Also explains why the Flyers look scared on the PP. Imagine scoring a PP goal that wasn't designed by him, they would have to fight him during the intermission. |

There is no evidence that I'm aware of that in college, Gauthier was difficult to work with. You're also uninformed. The Flyers declined to offer him a deal in March of 23. They wanted to sign him in May of 23 and Gauthier said no. They did not want him to go to another year of college. |

Paying Travis Konecny $10 million a year could have a positive outcome. - psuhockey
It certainly could on a number of levels. The Flyers will be a better team with Konecny than without. However there is a big difference between a 2 year deal at 3.25M and an 8 year deal at 9M or so. |

It was an epiphany that unfortunately didn't come to them until after the season. That they could have a round table with some special advisors and scouts and collaborate on a fix for the PP. They just didn't think of doing that during the season. They have a plan in place now. This is cutting edge thinking that will become the norm in the league as the Flyers are trend setters. Just as it will be with the triumvirate arrangement. It's cutting edge stuff that is the future of the NHL.

Just when you think this organization has hit rock bottom. They become more embarrassing. I never thought I would get to this level concerning the team I've rooted for as long as I can remember.

The 3-headed front office is petitioning the league for equity in PP percentage. They feel that since all teams play 5-4 or 5-3 the outcomes should be equal |

Maybe just like only counting non OT games in the standings. We can only count the Flyers PP's where they scored?

Yeah, I got that wrong. Still though. Not enough talent. Isn’t Shaw the architect of the PK? The PP is the other side of the puck. If they are sold on Thompson than why doesn’t Torts have Shaw and Thompson collaborate on making a functional PP? They always preach collaboration.

I don’t love the $3.25 M for Fodotov but Charlie OConnor had a good point- if we didn’t see him play those three games this season, would we be upset about a 2 year deal worth 3.25 to see if he can work here? The answer would, for many, be no. Then you have to ask yourself, is it fair to judge him on those 3 games? I guess I’d say no because of the varied and wild circumstances but what do others think? |

They were probably busy learning about how three people can collaborate on how to (frank) up a hockey team |

so you rather just stick w the status quo and let Rocky keep working his magic?
- Flyfly
No, I have posted already that I think the Flyers need another voice. However that is very different than stating coaches like Rocky Thompson or Michel Therrien don't know what they are talking about. Both coaches know more about hockey in their pinky finger than you and I will ever know. |

No, that is not what was posted. What was posted was that Michel Therrien and Rocky Thompson are not qualified to design and run an NHL PP. That is simply not true! |

Gauthier wanted to sign and start his NHL career when his NCAA season ended in March of 23. The Flyers declined to do so presumably because they wanted to avoid bonus overages on the 22/23 season cap. The Flyers then attempted to sign him in May of 23 for the 23/24 season. Gauthier the informed them that he didn't want to play for them. Your claim that the Flyers wanted him to play a second college season is not correct.
