So with the Sabres going back to Ruff, maybe we can go back to Hakstol since Seattle might be moving on.

Even you would do a better job than Rocky or Therrien. - Tomahawk
I think we should really push this with the Flyers. JD knows when players have the goods.

Fedotov re signed. At least with that contract, no way a vet goalie is signed in the summer, which is okay by me. Let the battle for #1 to begin between Ersson, Fedotov, and Kosolov. - Trox88
It’s a bad contract. |

Yeah from a yearly average, but not term. Should they have walked away and signed a UFA vet? Just gone with Petersen and Kosolov as the backups? |

The only way it can make sense is if they think they can move one of the goalies at the end of the season for a good return. It’s a big overpay for an unproven goalie. |

It surely is an overpay in terms of AAV but it is only two years. Not sure what they have in Fed but I guess we will find out soon enough. If he ends up being solid and can split time w Ers it will be work out. I just have no idea what he will be when the season starts. It is a gamble...

Total they are spending 4.7 on goalies for 2 years.
Also from things I am seeing it was the cost to get him over here and he did want more term. I don't love it but I am better with it at 2 years and higher money then something long term your stuck with.

Luckily, Bryz's contract does not count against the cap.

The PowerPlay does not seem to have any creativity. It appears that for the most part everyone stands still off puck. Watching these playoff games, the movement with and without the puck is amazing, up tempo and either someone is open on the far side with a cross seem pass or there is a bunch of traffic in front of the net. Neither of those were regular occurrences this year in Flyerland |

You forgot Petersen.
Fedotov may not be an NHL level goalie. I guess that would be good for a tank.
Makes me worry about a Konecny contract if he is willing to overpay here. |

Really? So tell us then, who should be coaching the Power play for the Flyers and what evidence can you provide that would say that person would have any more success than the several coaches before him? - jd250
No one could do any worse than Rocky did this year. |

Oh come on! Where’s your sense of adventure?! The only replacement for Fred Shero, I mean Scotty Bowman, oh wait… so easy to confuse them… I mean John Tortorella, is Mike Babcock! |

No he won't. I think the goalie of the future is in Lehigh. Kosolov will play in Lehigh and then eventually mature to the big team. Ersson and Fedotov are place holders in my eyes. - J35Bacher
there is nothing that tells me the flyers have the goalie of the future in house. Their draft record and development in that area lacks. |

I don't mind it at all, really. If Fedotov acclimates to the NHL game and really grows into being dependable, it's relatively cheap and he has a chance to take a step up in money in 2 years. If not, he's done in 2 years and hasn't cost them much. There's always a possibility that he can grow and then be an asset to trade in a "competent goalie" starved league. |

What difference does it make? Fedotov can become a great goalie or be a total dud. The cap shouldn’t matter too much the next two years anyway. And I’d rather have him than some other NHL retread. It’ll be fun to root for him next couple seasons. Plus we want the Russians to be happy and say good things to Michkov about the Flyers so he doesn’t pull a Quitter on them. 😂 |

To be fair there's no creativity in the way this team is coached in any facet. The theme seems to be that all problems will be solved if you simply give 110%, and if that doesn't work try 120%.
There needs to be a balance and there is none. |

It wouldn't make sense if Fedetov plays well and helps solidify the position. Buys time for Ersson and other young goalies to develop?

Plus Peterson's $5m, so $9.7 per, probable savings of $1.1 for sending him down, $8.6 spent on the goalie position for NHL contracts
