He adjusted so much that he coached to the playoffs 7 times in the past 19 seasons he has coached.
He is a less than average coach
Just stop with the nonsense - WhiskeyMan
Let's have a discussion on the specifics of how Ruff has adapted. In his systems and style of play and how he has adapted from his early years as a coach in Buffalo. Lets find out who is talking nonsense and who isn't. You don't have the knowledge to do that of course. Beginning with not recognizing that I haven't really said anything about how good of a coach Ruff is. Only that I would take him over Tortorella. |

how had ruff adapted from his early years? what is he now doing differently? can you break it down?
is torst doing the same exact thing form his early years in tampa? or has he made some changes/modifications? |

Do he need to. He know his job is secure if he saw GM assistant Torts season ending presser. |

Not a big fan of retreads but I'd rather have Ruff than Tortorella. - MJL
Unless Lindy Ruff has a prime Dominik Hasek, he's just another guy the game left behind long ago. Neither he nor John Tortorella are getting their respective teams to the playoffs, so... |

Maybe so but in the context I offered, it's a binary choice.

What I've shown is how literally completely full of crap you are. Reality is that you hang on every word I say and can't wait to make an ass out of yourself. Literally every single day like it's your job. Like you get paid to make an ass out of yourself. I hope you make good cash because you're one of the best I've ever seen at it. - MJL Uh oh, it appears that I hurt your feelings? I'm so sorry! Speaking of jobs, do you actually have one?

That's #7 on the day. Not at all, I want you to continue. Yes, I have a job and it's very, very lucrative I might add.

Pasta is not the kind of player you would want to build around scoring in a playoff game; after 4 periods of play, he has 2 points. I wonder how tk did on the golf course today. I hope he played 18 with rocky so he could help the coach improve the PP that he is currently a top-line winger on |

Anybody could make that shot. Ferraro called him one of the games great shooters. What does he know.

That's reply #8 you've made today to one of my posts after claiming just a few days ago that you don't read most of my posts anymore.
Obviously, the gist of my post escapes you. That's also not something I ever said.

I imagine some of this is due in part to the pendulum swinging back from how Hextall wasn’t collaborative. But also, this is pretty much how a lot of corporate America works. It’s a bunch of collaboration where nobody gets their feelings hurt because their idea wasn’t chosen. Spreads responsibility around so anyone can be blamed or not be blamed.
I will say though, this was the worst PP even before Rocky took over. Maybe it’s just a fact the Flyers don’t have any elite players. Their two best “snipers” are best on the rush rather than setup in zone. |

Yep.
I wouldn't even entertain it. I would be putting him on the market. Get the best deal you can and move on.
I wonder about Ottawa. Have 2 first rounders. They do have Josh Norris coming back. Could Konecny maybe get you Pinto and the Bos 1st rounder in some package.
I have to think Ottawa wants the playoffs next year after disappointing this year and they have a new owner. - J35Bacher
I’d rather they target the 7th pick than the later pick and a player. |

Don't be a putz. I can have any opinion I want to have. You're entitled to yours. I don't hate anyone including Tortorella. I believe that Ruff is a better coach and more suited for the modern NHL. Ruff is an old time coach who has been flexible and grown with the game. Adjusted his tactics from the past. Tortorella hasn't. It's 2024 not 2004. - MJL
What are you watching? Ruff has missed the playoffs in 7 of his last 10 seasons. Everyone in NJ has been complaining of his handling of their young players. You say you don’t hate Torts but you’re clearly biased against him because in no measurement is Ruff a better coach. Not in 2004 and not in 2024. |

It's a weak argument to say that I have a bias against Tortorella. It is not bias. It is based on simple facts and observation when it comes to Tortorella. I like the style of play that NJ played under Ruff versus how Tortorella plays. How many times did Ruff healthy scratch Jack Hughes, Hirschier and Luke Hughes when he was in NJ? |

Cannot rebound. And Embiid simply doesn't have that superstar clutchness when it counts. |

Zero rebounds last 3 mins. How does Hartenstein get that last offensive rebound right under Joel's nose?
Knicks wanted it more. |
