There is no message necessary to Pro hockey players in the playoffs.

When a coach does that in regular it’s for one of a bunch of reasons:
- complacency
- not buying into a system
- lazy play
- dip in schedule
…and more.

In the post season that is unnecessary. The players know the urgency. Sometimes fans look at a game and say they played with no urgent but that’s not something that is quantifiable.

It’s effort, execution, IQ. I thought the effort was there - the execution and IQ (smart in game decisions) was not there.

A bag skate is not a good idea after 82 games and to start a playoffs. Not at all.

In terms of the optional practice, video, etc., it depends on the players. Your coach knows what works (in their opinion) for the team he has. Just cause a skate was optional it doesn’t mean video and discussions were.

Honestly man I didn’t like that call. I thought Somi punching McCavoy in head twice was a dumb penalty to take. The slash to me was tick tac. It was a huge chop at all to me.

I’m also not a fan of pointing to a single moment as the game being out of reach (meaning ti me anyway the cost). It was a collection of things and the Domi slash call was to me a bad one.

They are going to call a slash no matter how ticky tacky 9/10 when it is to the bare wrist. Either slash him harder and break it, or hit him in the pads. Game was 3-0 by then so maybe it was already done. It was one of several turning points. Love Domi playing with an edge but he has to be smart about it. Yes he is lucky he wasn't singled out for punching McCavoy in the head twice, but at least it was situation where the ref had a chance to even it up and for some reason he did.

Ah I dunno know man - disagree with the smash thing.

I do agree that I like Domis aggressiveness and I don’t think Keefe should rein him in. He’s smart enough to know where he crossed so don’t muzzle the dog. There were a few slashes and punches in head from Frederick and Lauko that could’ve been called and weren’t. Just wasn’t Maxs night that way. He will figure it out and bring it a tick smarter
