I don’t believe any of the Walker resigning talk. It was a leverage play. Friedman has said on his podcast that Briere and Jones run a tight ship so that was leaked on purpose.
- psuhockey
Did Friedman say that the Flyers didn't negotiate with Walker to try and work out a new deal?

what do you think the flyers should do this offseason?
- what moves would you make?
- who would you look to trade?
- who would you look to acquire?
- what would be the cliff flyers plan? - hello it's me 2050
I'll play:
Trade Laughton and Konecny. Maybe see about moving Sanheim.
Remove Thompson(remove Torts but we know they wont do that)
Need to look to acquire young talent position be damned and more picks.
Send Delaurier and Atkinson to Lehigh
During season hope Hathaway plays well and then move him at TDL. If Risto can get healthy maybe he plays well enough to eventually move.
If they don't move up in the draft, hope someone like Eiserman, Lindstrum or maybe Dikinson drops.

Kinda where I am…I’m still sitting on the fence. I am not all hyperbole against Torts and DB, but I’m not ready to defend some of the actually events that have gone down or some of the decisions that have been made. I guess I could take a side then yell from my soap box “see I was right”, but I’m not ready to call everyone out after a year for the GM and two for the coach…..especially when it’s pretty evident the lack of high end talent around the NHL hasn’t made its way to Philly yet. - landros 2
yea, I am here too. While I am critical of Torts and concerned how the trio might work, I will give it to the beginning of next season to make a decision. |

No the draft isnt all that matters. That is silly. Well were they will be finishing they are likely to not get that elite talent through the draft. - hello it's me 2050
They are going to have to for this to work. It’s the downside of not tanking. Even if they plan on trading for elite talent, they are going to have to draft well enough to have a surplus of talented prospects to make those trades.
It would have been a better play to tank but they won’t do it so no need to keep harping on it. So can they pull it off by not doing? The only path I see is thru drafting better than everyone else; by finding enough gems to move an overpayment of assets to shake lose top talent or getting high end talent later in the draft than normally possible.
We should all hope for a disaster of a season next year where the entire team quits on Tortorella and they get a top 5 pick. |

yes the best path is through the draft. flyers history suggest it will not happen. Then your looking at another 3/4 years easy as those picks will bein 24 and 25,
now if they move tk and culture vet Laughton they can get more assets. We both know they will not. |

The Flyers just missed the playoffs on purpose so they showed the perception they are trying....
But next year they are going to tank hard win the Hagens pick, get enough assets to find a way to move up to snag Misa while telling the fans "We were trying!".
They add young center depth right before Michkov comes over a year early and BOOM...
I wake up by a slap from the wife because I'm turning the bed into a water bed.

The Flyers will publicly say it is their goal to make the playoffs the exact year that they make the playoffs. Just like they publicly said rebuild the year everything came apart with Fletcher.
Privately, they are saying playoffs. This past year, privately they were saying playoffs. Next year, privately they are saying playoffs.
Also what are we thinking for GH extension? He is a glue guy so i'd say he gets an extra year plus maybe some trade protection.

Glue guys are easy to find. Basically fourth line guys that are not devoid of talent and can score maybe once every ten games.
If you were a solid organisation you would have young guys who could do this on entry level contracts.
For all the BS about 200’ players how come they can never develop their own fourth line guys? |

Fedotov is 27 and speaks English. I doubt it.
It was probably more of a show me what you got sample and hoping they could get a steal. Teams do it all the time at the end of the year, especially bad teams.

Flyers president Keith Jones said a few weeks ago moving Tortorella upstairs “is not something that has entered any conversation. He’s the coach and really good at it.” Even though they have to be disappointed the team fell short, Jones and GM Daniel Briere, who were mentally tough players, strongly believe what their young guys went through will benefit them in the long run.
“(Tortorella) is really important,” Jones added. “He’s outstanding at developing young players and developing accountability. Guys have thrived. And the players deserve a ton of credit, too. How well they get along, how cohesive they are, how much they hate losing and enjoy winning. These are all good signs from the inside.”
They are expected to announce a two-year extension for Ivan Fedotov at any time and Samuel Ersson took huge steps under less-than-ideal conditions. A lot of their young players, from Cam York to Morgan Frost to Foerster, improved their standing. Cam Atkinson made it sound like he will start anew in 2024-25, and the other one I wonder about is Joel Farabee.
/************/
Jones, who arrived in the Ed Snider/Bob Clarke days of, “The Flyers will not be ignored!” didn’t mind the cacophony. “Maybe we’ve learned something from the best,” he laughed. “We were uninteresting for a long time. No one can complain we are not in the news. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad. As we build back our fan base, it’s not killing us to have some craziness.” As a media member, I’m okay with this. I think some of the players would prefer it be a little quieter, but that’s kind of Philly if you think about it. |

I think it has more to do with Wade than Gurianov. Wade was unhappy, move him. Give us a one year shot in the dark and then he can be off the books. If he surprised us then great. Otherwise adios. |

wonder what will look like money wise? 2 million per? - hello it's me 2050
It should not be anymore than 1 mil per. What has he done to deserve more?
I’m excited that they plan on going fedotov/errson though lol. I see a 75 point team in my crystal ball. |
