Whatever it would take to get that 1st round pick. It's much to do about nothing. Let Johansen fade into obscurity. - Pelle31Forever
Agreed, it was a good trade. So he goes on LTIR for next season, big deal. Just means the flyers can take on another bad contract next season at the trade deadline.

At least the Flyers made a SCF appearance this century, the Leafs haven’t even reached the final since ‘67! - BiggE
That's only because there was no 3rd round back then...
In 97 YEARS they have reached the 3rd round 5 times! Obviously 0-5. That's why Leafs fans are so arrogant, to them they made it to the Finals last year.

Seravalli on nasty knuckles is worth a listen. First media person not licking torte’s balls, pretty refreshing.
-Said he’s a really good coach, but THE worst coach for this team. Will squeeze 10-15 more points out than the roster merits.
-players are unhappy, despite the public face. Coots benching changed the demeanor of the team. Publicly undressing Brink, scratching Sanheim
-has too much power, has Hilferty’s ear, has say in personnel… too much
-so many buttons he could push, but he’s always pushing the giant red one, it’s his nature. - hello it's me 2050
Thanks for the heads up. Have to check that out. Always though Frank S was a pretty good hockey reporter.

To be honest the show with Frank had absolutely nothing new. It's the same stuff everyone has said for years, just more validation for the people who watched.

Torts will 💯 be gone once they are losing big by mid season next year. No worries, he won’t last a long lossing streak which is coming. |

Briere seems happy with the coaching staff based on his comments. If players don't like it they will be shown the door. No player on this team is good enough to have any clout in regards to the coach. |

Not even a talent like TK who a smart GM would build his team around?

I hope this is sarcasm. Tk is a very good player but not one to build around. He could be a core piece. At this time he is more of a luxury.

As Frank Serevalli stated, he believes Torts is the wrong coach for this team for where this team is right now because he is a great coach that will squeeze 10-20 points more out this team than they should get. This means they are picking 12th and not in the top 3. Same with last season. And let's also admit that Torts was not hired here for a rebuild, he was hired by Fletcher and Scott to try to get their team into the playoffs. Briere has stated he controls the roster and Torts controls the lineup, thus it's up to Briere to not sign FAs this summer, and give Torts no choice but to play the young kids. Signing players like Hathaway and Poehling last season pushed this team closer the playoffs. This summer Briere has got to just let the young players fill in the gaps. |

so now you conclude this is not a rebuild. That is progress. also when torts was hired he said it was a rebuild to something to that effect. so you are incorrect.
- if you watched torts and danny boy press conf it is clear as day who is running the show at the nhl level. not even debatable.
- the coach said he wanted some 10-12 goals scorers who can pk. he got GH and poehlig. They didn't push the team closer to the playoffs. that
- what young kids should torts not have a choice but to play them? what young players should fill in the gaps?
you really eat up everything they say. |

Wait, no .. that is not what I said. I said Fletcher and Scott hired Torts, and they hired him to squeeze every last ounce out of their roster to try to get them into the playoffs and salvage their jobs. When Torts was hired, it was never going to be a rebuild. Things obviously happened since then. Fletcher and Scott are out, and the new leadership is in place, and Briere/Torts just the other day once again stated this is a rebuild, that big FAs will not be signed and no young assets will be traded for aging veterans.
Hathaway and Poehling absolutely pushed the Flyers closer to the playoffs. I'm just saying I don't want Briere to bring in any more players, to fill whatever spots need to be filled from within. I would like to see more veterans moved, players like Laughton and Deslauriers and then going into next season you come in with something like this:
Couts, TK, Tippet
Frost, Farabee, Foerster
??,Cates, Hathaway
Lycksell, Brink, Atkinson
Drysdale, Risto
Sanheim, York
Zamula, Seeler
Attard
Ersson, Fedotov
It's not exciting. It's not a great lineup. But this is where this team is right now. $5.2M in dead cap space, another $3.85M in buried money, and really no one ready to come up from the pipeline. Unless more drastic roster reshaping is made which I don't see happening, it's going to be a down season.
I don't eat up what Torts and Briere say, I listen to what they say and look for inconsistencies. So far I haven't seen any from Briere. With Torts, it was clear he was going down with his veterans like Johnson, and in the end that did the Flyers no good.

I have to agree, there is no way this team should have a 12% Power play, but it's clear to me Torts and Briere are blaming the players more than the coaching. |

your first paragraph is wrong. torts when hired said it is a rebuild or less. also chuck didn't hire him. chuck didnt want him. scott and others did after their farce consulting firm said hire him
no they didn't push them closer to the playoffs. give your head a shake.
really no inconsistencies. funny hw you leave out "jonesy" who said the rebuild was BS. funny as hell you think the coach/gm and co-gm think this is a rebuild.
if danny didn't say no one was ready you would be pumping someone tires up. perhaps samu. this is the only reason you are saying it is because danny said it.

Briere has stated he controls the roster and Torts controls the lineup.... - jd250
That's not what I remember from the exit presser. Briere said Torts controls the lineup. He didn't say anything about him not being involved with roster building.
We know for a fact that Torts has a say in who stays and who goes and who to go after.
So basically Torts has his own sphere that nobody else is allowed to interfere with, but he gets to stick his nose in everybody else's business. Sure seems like he's the big swinging Richard in the triumvirate. |
