Systems are Caresi matter so much in hockey. It takes crappy "on-paper" teams like Boston and Philly further than their talent would dictate.
And teams loaded with talent like the Leafs to just sink.

-clearing the front of their net
-getting a consistent net presence
-stopping the cycle
-penalty killing
