I keep reading comments from Briere.....
- "We are not giving up on the youth"
- "We need more high end talent"
- "We are not going after talent at the expense of youth" and finally
- "We are not doing a FA long term deals"
Does a situation like this actually exist in today's NHL? Fact of the matter is.....
- if you add talent via FA you can only go long term
- you can really only draft high end talent if you draft early, i.e. tank
- if you want established non-FA talent you have to give up on the youth
It sounds like they really have no concept of today's NHL.. - mr4tno
Yup, it’s the Minnesota wild model |

They'll turn eventually. By then this team will have another new "plan" and new talking points. - MJL
you and others been saying it for a while. let me know when it happens. |

Rocky should’ve been stripped of PP duties months ago. Sharp and LeClair were here the whole year and contributed what exactly to the PP? I just don’t understand how GMDB or Tortorella can sit there after doing absolutely nothing to address the PP mid season and act like they have a plan. That plan should’ve been out in place months ago. Makes no sense.

When you read through the twitter posts, Instagram, the athletic, etc etc etc, the fanbase eats it up. The whole tough lunch pail attitude they push is digested like candy, and they bend over like Kevin Bacon screaming thank you sir may I have another.
They love Torts, they think what he did was a miracle and the right way to do everything.
The fanbase is as hopeless as ownership and the FO. - MBFlyerfan
Social media is straight 🗑 in regards to anything Flyers. It's just Eagles fans who casually glance at what the Flyers are doing.

Even more infuriating is that Tortorella's "200 ft game, blue collar, play the right way" approach is like watching paint dry. Might as well watch baseball. For me, I want speed and skill; I want to be entertained. If that does not translate into wins, then so be it. I'll take a Frost thru the legs but no goal 100x over any "greasing goal" (another term long with grit that I can't stand) |

I should send some of you guys over to Flyers Nation. Of course, you'd all be banned in about 5 minutes. I mean, I'm almost on the verge of being banned every day there and I'm one of the most positive guys on here. Eh what? |

I thought that game against the Caps was a snooze alert (baseball like) game. Two defensive coaches and then Torts giving the Caps accolades for how well they defended in his post game presser. That was sickening.

The flyers front office needs a 12 step program and maybe even an intervention. You, can’t help yourself until you admit you have a problem and commit yourself to changing your lifestyle so to speak.
Unless DB has some shrewd wheeling and dealing planned and gets high end talent.
That is the problem. All GM’s want high end talent. Unless DB has a crystal ball and knows what players will be studs before it happens I can’t see his high end talent search coming to fruition under their current path.
If TK isn’t traded this offseason we will know they are all talk.
I like TK but he isn’t making you better. He is what he is at this time.
If DB can get a first and a very solid prospect depending on what the 1st round pick is he needs to do the deal.
Second, Rocky has to go.
Third, develop the best talent evaluators and scouts in the league.
Fourth put Torts on a short leash. If he doesn’t get on board with what the GM says then he’s gone.
Fifth DB needs to be his own man. He needs to make the final decisions on trades, players and coaches.
Make them fire you if they want to interfere. |

Yup, it’s the Minnesota wild model - Just5
The Wild model is to tread water until Kaprizov gets on the ice. Kaprizov’s line scored the 9th most goals in the league this year. The Wild scored 90 goals in their last 30 games. Kirill was on the ice for 59 of those.

I'm with you on everything. I'm sure you know but the GM is not in control of this team. The head coach is. Briere is completely on board with Tortorella. Briere also doesn't have final say on anything. It is a triumvirate of the POHO (head cheerleader), GM and coach. Just like with the PP, they stress collaboration.

I picked the Canes at the start of the season, but I'm wavering a bit on them. That's who I'll be rooting for nonetheless. - Pelle31Forever
Agree on Jets...have them in my bracket to get to finals against Rangers with Rangers winning the cup |

All this collaboration talk intentionally breeds confusion and ultimately makes it difficult for anyone to pin who’s at fault. The biggest red flag was that Tortorella mid season scouted drysdale and had maybe the biggest say and push in his acquisition in a major major franchise trade. Mind boggling |

That’s what they say. If I was a beat writer for this team I would ask DB what teams have built dynasties using the GM by collaboration method.
I can understand talking to the coach about players and moves but at the end of the day it’s just a coaches opinion.
If Torts doesn’t like the players being brought in and can’t work his coaching style to the players coming in the get rid of him. |

I have. It's pretty bare bones operation but the fares are so low you can look past that aspect. |
