the last time Washington eliminated the Rangers in the playoffs, Brandon Dubinsky led the Rangers in points with 54

The rest of the series in the east are going to be awesome to watch. Florida passing Boston was perfect. Now we have FLA-TB, BOS-TOR, and CAR-NYI. Should be 3 great, hard fought series. Makes it even more important to roll the caps

Prez trophy was important for rd one more then anything. Bubble teams this year were all pretty meh unlike most years where they are rolling, and heading in with crazy momentum. Caps won sure but they really didn’t do much convincing recently. Needed an eng goal to get in ffs lol

Agreed. First class television. Boston is gonna haunt the Leafs again. Florisa/Tampa should be a war.

I was reading something the other day that one of the best indicators of playoff success historically is the team's record post-deadline. It was essentially saying that the Cup winner has had a top 5 record since the deadline in each of the past however many years (I can't find the stat, I'm not on Twitter and my google search isn't yielding anything).

Top 5 records since this years trade deadline:
Carolina: 15-4-1
Rangers: 15-5-0
Dallas: 13-4-0
Edmonton: 11-4-4
Vegas: 12-5-1

Niether Boston or Toronto is particularly well at the moment. But I have a feeling Boston gets crushed.

That fact that one of the Florida teams are going home after that series is crazy to me. I could very well see Tampa winning that series.

whenever I see James Reimer I cant help but think of that game 7 when he was playing goal for the Leafs and the Bruins came back from 4-1 deficit and won in overtime and he was the goalie

I cant believe he was playing goal for Detroit last night, my god we would have lit that guy up

Not that I’m that into playing the isles next rd, but if the canes and Florida can get knocked off for us that makes things a bit easier. Then the Avs. Those are the 3 teams I worry we can’t beat in a series. I have confidence in pretty much all the other potential matchups we’ll face

Counting chickens, putting the horse, all that jazz. Let's just hope the Rangers win round 1.

IF NYR does have what it takes, then last year's playoff melt down will be a blessing in disguise. Lav as a coach will be huge in playoffs as well. Not saying the Cup is ours, but win/lose I have a feeling this squad will be ready to go!

Rangers played well enough down the stretch and won the Presidents Trophy. In addition to having home ice advantage for the entire playoffs, we got to play the weakest playoff team by far. There are no byes in hockey , unlike the NFL but this is the best possible scenario for the Rangers to advance EASILY.

In a game that Washington absolutely HAD TO WIN, they generated all of 18 shots on goal against a pedestrian Flyers team! Heck, they advanced on an empty net goal!

In any playoff series, of course both teams have "theoretical" chances to win. Just like I have a "theoretical" chance to have a night with Salma Hayek with one of you guys holding the camera to film it!

The point is: this is the best possible opponent that we could have chosen for the first round. We should CRUSH this Caps team. We are well-rested and healthy. We have a GREAT coaching staff to help us prepare. If we struggle, then we clearly are not a Cup-worthy winning team anyway.

Get the brooms out! I don't see many circumstances where this series even goes 5 games!

LETS GO RANGERS!

I'm because I vividly remember doing stuff like this to the Rangers in playoffs, but the Rangers were able to win more of the series vs the Caps. No reach, just facts
Me frearing a guy who can still score despite not being as good as he once was is very valid. Also a form of respect. You can hate him, but also know he's very good.
