How about their 2nd this year and their unprotected first next year for TK and laughton contingent on TK resigning. If he doesn’t its a protected 1st
- Just5

1st and a 2nd for them both is a terrible deal for the flyers

Keep and eye on the Coyotes. The move to SLC might make them players in the trade game.

I would figure they would want t make a splash and pickup a few more veteran star players.

Any chance they could go after TK? Not as their main move, but a nice side move?

They are loaded with talent...Cooley...and picks....could be a great trade partner.

they aint giving up cooley

For the Flyers maybe. If you were a Yotes fan, would you like that trade?

Spot on - and anyone thinking the Flyers are not signing TK are delusional. I will be absolutely SHOCKED if they don't sign him.

I didn't actually propose anything. I just said they are loaded with talent, gave Cooley as an example, and loaded with picks.

I am not expecting TK to get Philly a #1 C and a first plus more. I was just pointing out they have a tonne of young talent and lots of picks. A new owner in a new town might want to push for the playoffs in their first year, and might want some mid aged, decent vets to step in and push for that. I could see them making some moves to impact the team on the ice, and not the cap hit. I feel like the Flyers almost have a bit of a logjam at defense, and don't see where they are all going to fit. There can be pieces added to each side, Guenther looks like a nice piece, Cooley, Geekie just to name a few of the forwards that have. They have a couple of really nice defensive prospects. I am not adverse to trading young guys for different young guys...it just needs to make sense.

I just think Philly might be able to get one of their big needs from Arizona as they move to SLC.

For me the first litmus test is to reverse positions. As a rebuilding team, I wouldn't trade for Konecny if I was in their shoes. I wouldn't want my team to do that if I was a fan of that team.

I dunno..maybe if they were staying in Arizona, but SLC is NHL ready. TK could become one of their first moves, and they are setup for future success with their wealth of young guys and picks. TK might welcome it. Who knows for sure?

We don't know where the contract negotiations are at all. It is assumed that progress on the contract has been made, and that come July 1st, a new contract will be announced, but what if they are too far apart, or TK doesn't want to commit? Noone but the 3 blind mice and TK and his agent really know where things stand.

I full expect the mistake to be made and TK to be signed to at least a $72M deal. I also think it is a horrible idea, and is going to come back and haunt the Flyers for a few years.

People have been asking for trade returns for TK, etc, and I am just trying to give a reasonable option for a trade and decent return. Get the conversation back to the Flyers future and away from dwelling on Guathier.

The reason given was that the Flyers didn't want to risk bonus overages on the cap by taking on Gauthier late in the 22/23 season. Not because they didn't think he was ready. That's been well reported. You are uninformed. There is no need for me to explain why he was ready to play in the NHL in March of 23 simply because I haven't stated that I think he was or wasn't. You wouldn't know that because while you're busy calling people names, you've shown that you can't read. What I've stated is that you don't know that he wasn't ready to play in the NHL. And you don't. Until a player actually plays, nobody truly knows. There's more that you haven't considered but I'll save that for after your next asinine response.

That very well could be true for reason db didn’t sign him…. It doesn’t matter tho does it. It doesn’t change the fact of what the flyers did later in response to cg. Philly had his rights

I have said personally I would’ve signed him. I truly wish they did. But you simply can not lay blame that they didn’t at that point in March. They were well within their rights not to sign him.

It ends there

It’s not debateable

Are they still going to be rebuilding in a new city? How do you sell that to the new fans? I expect a full house cleaning of management and coaches, and an organizational change in direction.

I can see them making a couple of moves to bring in a couple of impact players to push the team ahead in a new city. They are loaded with young talent, prospects and picks....they have been collecting them for a decade. With an impact trade or 2, it might weaken their prospect and pick pool, but they can absorb the lost. They haven't made real hockey moves in a decade...mostly just trading off high real salaries and obtaining LTIR contracts, or high hit, low real salary contracts. They might want to prove to the new fans that things are going to be different in SLC.

They were for sure. But I believe it cost them Gauthier. Most teams would have signed him and let him burn the year. The Flyers didn't. He wanted out shortly there afterwards. They made their decision, and it will probably bite them in the butt.

Hard for TK to say no to $72,000,000 with the added bonus of getting May and June off while other suckers play hockey for free.

Absolutely, I would not blame TK at all if he were to sign. At this point I just don't see how he fits the timeline and the assets gained would help w/ the "rebuild."

But he does fit the timeline in the Flyers mind. The timeline management has in their heads is way different than what it actually is.

IMO they are too focused on getting the square peg of a Coots, TK, Sanheim & Laughton core into the round hole of winning.
