If we debate it, will you promise to threaten me? Or how about we meet up and play one on one hockey to decide it. Or how about a game of HORSE on the b-ball court?
- MJL
Oh brother! Well, since you and your little brother don't know how to skate that won't be an issue and you can't touch me in HORSE either. True story...one of my buddies had a few drinks a few years ago one night and he started mouthing off about the hockey/basketball comparison (he played division 2 college BB) and we met at a playground the next day. It didn't end well for him. When he showed up I was flying around on roller blades and picking the corners at will. He was afraid to even put on the skates. Then I proceeded to crush him in HORSE (I didn't even get a letter) and I hadn't even touched a basketball in 10 years. You don't wanna go there!

Some 3rd tier guys I like are Connelly (off ice issues meh, but skill), Jerome's kid and Zeev.

Who I really like in the 2nd tier is Berkly Catton, but knowing the Flyers he will slide and be picked right before them.

- Glak18

If Eiserman keeps sliding he would be an easy pick at #12. And if teams prioritize more well-rounded D a guy like Parekh could slide and that would be a grand slam at #12. I'm also a fan of Greentree -- guy's just a highlight reel.

Hypothetical: if Flyers lose tonight they’ll have the 12th pick. Assuming they don’t win the lottery and remain at 12, what do you think it would take to move up to at least the 8th pick and would you make that deal?

I would think the late 1st rounder would get that done. Not sure who they’d target
- Just5

History suggests that the cost is not that high, especially in a weak draft.

What makes you think I don't know how to skate? That and the rest of your post is just more delusions from you. You couldn't be more of a phony.

I like your optimism. It's about coaching. Who has good coaching? (Dare I say...)
- BluehorseShoe64

It's not really optimism for the Flyers, the same can be said for any team.

It's like that scene from Money Ball when the old scouts are sitting around the table discussing if a player can make it, whether their girlfriend is ugly or how they scratch their nuts. Guys talking about being in the game for 40+ years and let them do their job...well technically do a better job then.

Not a deep draft is just lazy speak for the players don't jump up and down and do the work for the scouts. I think of weak drafts and right away I think of the Yakapoo draft, 2011 or 2012. Yet, stars/superstars still came out of that draft.

Yeah, like I would actually make that all up. I know you can't skate cause you have two left feet and folks with two left feet can't skate.

I do like Parekh, but I have a hard time seeing that many teams pass on him especially the way Makar's, Q.Hughes, Karlssons are celebrated in the NHL now. If he did slide then whoopie. Same goes for Eiserman. If he slides it's basically the old school dinosaur thinking.

What players do in juniors, college, etc does not determine what they do in the NHL. The product is not the player, it's their attributes and it's up to the team to develop them and know how to use them.

rather see the flyers use the forida pick and a 2nd or 2 to get proven younger nhl player already in the league.

or move up to the 15-20 range. Look at teams like buff and the sen who will be in "win" now mode. Their pick may be available. Too bad the flyers dont want to trade laughton/tk plus to get their pick.

Assuming that happens, the Flyers would have the #12 (theirs), #27 (Giroux deal) and #51 (compensatory for Jay O'Brien) picks for sure, along with possibly #37 (if Columbus lets it go in a relatively weak draft year, otherwise it goes to Philly in 2025). If they can package some of those picks (assuming #12 plus whatever) to move up and select an impact player, this would definitely be the year to do it.

If #12, #27 and a second rounder could get them into the top 5, it might be worth it. To move up 4 spots, would not give up more than a second (or later) rounder and even that would hardly be worth it. Outside of Celebrini and few others like Demidov, Lindstrom, Silayev and Levshunov, there is not a lot of consensus in the rankings. For example, I've seen Zeev Buium ranked as high as 4th and as low as 20th, and much the same for guys like Berkly Catton and Cole Eiserman.

I am shocked Eiserman is sliding so badly. When he fills out, he is going to be a power forward with an elite shot. In a draft lacking talent, an elite goal scorer sliding I would not have believed. I think Hage has a chance to go before pick 12. Is it a forgone conclusion Iginla to the Flames?

Personally I think how players rise and fall so much is just a game behind the scenes. Some situations make sense due to injuries or personal issues, but some of the silliest reasons come out later for why they rise or fall.

He's like an Owen Tippett. Always attacks the exact same obvious way, pretty inconsistent, and non-factor defensively. And his shot is good but it ain't Patrick Laine good.

Still, a natural goal scorer is nothing to scoff at.

I think Eiserman is much much better and more dynamic than Caulfield. Yet Caulfield's nickname is Goal and somehow has a cap of 7.8m. Someone please explain that to me.

Curious if the Flyers were the team at 8 and moved back to 12 for a mid 2nd, how would you feel about that? Would you do that deal?

I ask this because I feel like the top C’s and D’s will be gone before 12.

using precious assets to move up to a position that should have been the goal in the first place is asinine and asset mismanagement at its worst

So Thursday is Cutter night. I sure hope this kid hits the ground running just based on how many times I have to hear people cry about Drysdale and the trade.

Eiserman will probably fill.out and play around 220lbs. He won't be the skater of a Tippett, but hopefully he can develop an ability to be a net front presence.

Does Jiricek fall out of the top 10 because of the knee injury?

Big congrats to Scott Laughton for winning the Alumni Community award.

Looking forward to Scott finishing his career as a Flyer.
