This is going to date me bigtime, but the last Lightning game I attended cost me $10 plus taxes and service charges for a nosebleed seat. Parking was $5. A beer was $5 (and we thought that was expensive at the time). You could still smoke out on the exposed decks near the stairwells. You could literally attend a game for $25 and have a beer. - GalacticStone

era adjusted+
AM season near the top alltime
Stamkos 60 goal season gets overlooked a bit, but that was an alltimer also
https://theathletic.com/5...ws-maple-leafs-goal-rank/ - senstroll
I don't like the Era Adjusted stuff as much as I thought I would. It's too mathematically simplistic. Saying that Wayne Gretzky's 92 goal season was equivalent to Matthews' this year is preposterous - it just is. The next closest to Gretzky that year was Mike Bossy, with 64. So they are saying that Gretzky scored a flattened 69 goals and Bossy scored 47 . . .
But if you look at league scoring - it spikes when Gretzky arrives in the league and remains spiked until Gretzky leaves his prime years and is no longer dominant. The whole time Gretzky is in his prime he and his teammates are scoring at epic rates and often the opposition was as well because they were playing wide open hockey.
Like remember when Lemieux retired because of a bad back and cancer and hating the league - but was still leading the league in scoring? Then he was away for 4 years and came back at age 35, and had 76 points in 43 games? People like Lemieux and Gretzky were the reason scoring was up. They weren't scoring just because of the era. And simply removing their individual totals from the calculation doesn't do justice to the impact they were having on the totals in the league at the time of their dominance.

I forgot those details about Lemieux. What a mutant.
I know it's hard to compare across eras, but to me Gretzky and Lemieux still tower over hockey history because of the sheer ridiculousness of their stats. Even McDavid or anybody else still doesn't crush the rest of the league to the same extent as those two did.

Wedgie created a thread that, as you know, many of us participated in. The Islanders were picked once in the top-3, a couple of times in the Wild Card; Pittsburgh was picked once in the top-3 and a few times in the Wild Card - but no one picked Washington, Philadelphia or Detroit to be in the mix. Jersey was the one that everyone picked who fell flat on their faces.
In the West most of us thought Minnesota was taking 3rd in their division and they failed to make it; many of us had Seattle as a wild card at least and they also failed to make it. Only one person had Vancouver - as the WC2. A lot of people also felt that Calgary would do better. The west was a bit more sporadic in the WC picks and a lot more static in the top-3 picks (Edmonton, Vegas, LA & Dallas, Colorado, Minnesota). - Monkeypunk
Well, I might be the exception as I had Detroit in 3rd place in the Atlantic .
I'm way off on my predictions. |

Some people are just special organisms designed by natural selection for a particular sport.

So apparently the NHL is drafting two schedules for next season, one with the Arizona Coyotes and one with the Salt Lake City Coyotes. |

I didn't realize the Leafs set a franchise records for road wins yesterday. Perhaps Keefe's blender if more like a Magic Bullet, or Vitamix. |

I know it looks surprising.
But go back to the beginning of the season.
No one thought they were making the playoffs. - Scabeh
Yep. And now the proof is in the puddin'.
I really hope the Pens make it in. Crosby poured his heart and soul into it since Gentzel was traded.
Never been his biggest fan, but at this stage of his career, I'm pulling for them. Probably a tad for Bunting too, I guess. |

Big fat relocation fee that owners don’t have to share as part of HRR. If Coyote ownership throws in those prom outfits they all wore to the draft, I think it’s a done deal

The good news is the causeway to Sanibel has been repaired, so all those workers can head on up to Baltimore. |

Almost like Keefe has left his comfort zone this year with the new lines. Not sure if he was pressured or not, but I it. |

A lot of people were too optimistic about Ottawa and Buffalo.
I had Ottawa, Calgary, New Jersey. Minnesota and Seattle in the playoffs. Only 16 teams make the playoffs and I think I got 17 wrong. |
