Or, making the playoffs as an underdog and taking a rival to 4-1 of Game 7 but losing, but it having been so close convinces management you don't need a rebuild and Nonis is doing a good job. That's a bad season too.

Oh for sure that was the more mature conversation that occurred after the standard snarky comment was made about it being wrong because they were losing at the time by one person.

It happens very frequently when a team is down, it's like puling the goalie - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but to say it's stupid to do it because your losing is pretty IMO.

I mean most coaches tell their players to avoid fights when their team is willing unless it's necessary.

Anyhow moving on in my experience SBA is really like a totally differrent place when it's a playoff game vs regular season. It rocks in there during playoffs!

What model exactly do you propose? Where they sell the tickets for $40 each? Guess what happens then? Every single one of those tickets gets sold on the secondary market, where scalpers profit instead of MLSE - and "the fans" pay the exact same price.

There are actually still face value tickets for the Leafs playoff games for round 1 still available on Ticketmaster which is a bit surprising but $222 for an obstructed view standing room ticket is more than most folks will pay IMO.

I went to the Jays home opener on a general admission ticket that allowed access to any of the outfield district areas for $20. Now that's a deal!

was it crazy again this year? we went to the home opener last year and almost immediately those areas were a zoo and packed. we had seats, but honestly I would have preferred to hang out up there

My buddy and I stuck to the areas in the outfield district like Schniders porch etc. and the standing room spots that are pseudo in the concourse but with a great view of the game.

The bars like the Coronoa one or whatever it's called now are just far too insane for me really.

Wasn't too bad at all IMO, especially for $20.

I guess if we were really interested in lining up for a couple hours before the gates opened we could have got views near the bullpens or on the bleachers as those are also part of that 'district' but we figured some snacks and beers at a nearby restaurant were more appealing than lining up in the cold. lol

My neighbour is a big Jays fan, and he's built a bar in his backyard with a monster TV screen.

It's ruined the Skydome experience for me - I'd much rather sit in his backyard.

Baseball is an awesome chill experience (at least regular season). It's just a lot more relaxing to sit around, play some darts, play with the dogs (making sure the dogs stay away from the darts!), eat some BBQ, and pay attention when things are happening on the field.

No they are not. If they truly cared about fans they wouldn’t follow a basic demand sets value equation. There would be a variable applied that would add an average income of the fanbase to the equation.

They do not do that.

They only care about the partial group of the fanbase who can afford their demand. Doesn’t matter if you’re a leafs fan or not but if you can’t afford their asking price too bad. So no, they do not care about the fanbase, just the ones who are able to and willing to pay outrageously high prices.

And I’ll repeat this… I agree with them.

Wedgie created a thread that, as you know, many of us participated in. The Islanders were picked once in the top-3, a couple of times in the Wild Card; Pittsburgh was picked once in the top-3 and a few times in the Wild Card - but no one picked Washington, Philadelphia or Detroit to be in the mix. Jersey was the one that everyone picked who fell flat on their faces.

In the West most of us thought Minnesota was taking 3rd in their division and they failed to make it; many of us had Seattle as a wild card at least and they also failed to make it. Only one person had Vancouver - as the WC2. A lot of people also felt that Calgary would do better. The west was a bit more sporadic in the WC picks and a lot more static in the top-3 picks (Edmonton, Vegas, LA & Dallas, Colorado, Minnesota).

This is going to date me bigtime, but the last Lightning game I attended cost me $10 plus taxes and service charges for a nosebleed seat. Parking was $5. A beer was $5 (and we thought that was expensive at the time). You could still smoke out on the exposed decks near the stairwells. You could literally attend a game for $25 and have a beer.
