I don’t think anyone saw them loosing out the last 3 weeks of the season.
- Dkos

I saw it as more of a gradual unwinding. Before the last couple of weeks I had just about convinced myself that maybe they could not only make the playoffs, but be fun to watch for a round or two. The brick wall/sudden and dramatic collapse wasn’t up there in scenarios I envisioned. If anything, I thought we’d see them fighting like hell and fall just shy. This has been pretty brutal.

I don’t think this collapse is all on Torts, just as I thought when they were having success it’s wasn’t all on him. I think there’s some good things that have happened but unfortunately I think this ending is going to stain the year.
They hoped to play ”meaningful” games in April…they did…unfortunately they’ve really embarrassed themselves in those games.

You may be right that it's not all on torts. He got blood from a stone for most of the season but the way that this team stopped playing that way is confusing. It all started around a certain time this season, which may be coincidental.
The fact torts got us this far is bittersweet. We shouldn't be here but we should be drafting in the top 5, which we're not now.
I liked to think that torts brought out the best in some of the guys but they're not playing the same way recently.
Again, maybe the timing us coincidental but I stand by his piss poor line up decisions. Rewarding grinders is not a way to win hockey games but torts likes to reward non talented guys while down playing the guys with talent.
This is just a mess

Maybe Mike Keenan will come out of retirement.

That’s fine….but it’s a losers mentality to quit on the coach or your own season. Again I don’t care if they hate the coach….he’s not there to be their buddy. If you hate the guy…you play in spite of him.

I see your stance and get it.
But the team quit. Cold turkey.
I guess we will find out why during the summer bit this organization is a mess and stays a mess and I don't understand why

You're playing and you think everything is going fine. Then one thing goes wrong. And then another. And another. You try to fight back, but the harder you fight, the deeper you sink. Until you can't move... you can't breathe... because you're in over your head. Like quicksand.

They haven't quit in my opinion. The Flyers falling out was predicted by many. It was obvious why it was going to happen. It's been happening for the last month or so.

Did the entire team go for a line change? Incredible

This is absolutely the best possible outcome. The Flyers can neither keep Tortorella nor a bunch of these players. They have to move both over this offseason and by the end of the 2024-2025 season. Plus they will likely get one of the top 12 players in this draft where there isn’t much discernible different between #2 overal and #12.

Welp, just checked the score and this season’s over. Perhaps this is further evidence that a new coach is in order.

Sums it up perfectly. We've seen this before. What happens when a team is worn out and frustrated. Leads to bad decisions and mistakes. For the majority of the season, this team played structured hockey. Now apparently they quit because they're upset that Couturier was scratched. Not buying that.

Only hard work and dedication to their craft from the flyers players kept the juggernaut Canadiens from putting down a ten spot. Lesser teams may have given up as many as twelve. Truly an example for the rest of the NHL to follow.

Flyers as a team are a collective -30 for one game led by Drysdale -6 and Seeler -5.

You don't see that very often.

I’m not even saying you are wrong….they did fall off a Cliff. All year they were able to right the ship quickly…that just didn’t happen this time.I thought from the start they were better than a bottom feeder. I’ve liked that some of the young guys they have appear to have grown. But that’s not how I’ll remember this year. The last 2 weeks have been that bad.

(frank) it, trade everyone and fire the coach. strip it bare. no one survives this collapse.

its the only way.

no returning faces. start over.
