id have Mackinnon over kuch, but any of them make sense tbh. - senstroll
Kucherov, MacKinnon, Matthews and McDavid have all had exceptional seasons and Quinn Hughes deserves mention as well.
In the last 10 team games, Kucherov and McDavid have both averaged 2.2 points / game, MacKinnon has averaged 1.7, and Matthews has averaged 1.8 - with 10 goals in those 10 games. By the way, Crosby is at 1.7 and Forsberg is at 1.8 - so these are the guys having elite performances as we run out the season.
Matthews and Kuch have 5 games left, McDavid has 6 and MacKinnon has 4.
Kucherov: 136 + 11 = 147
McDavid: 130 + 11 = 141
MacKinnon: 133 + 7 = 140
Matthews: 102 + 9 = 111; 5 goals/4 assists = 70 goals.
It is plausible by pace that both Hyman and Reinhart could end up with about 56. This would project to put Matthews' goal lead about 20% greater than the next highest goal scorer - which would be a top-20 goal scoring performance in NHL history, if you look at how many more goals the top goal scorer had over the second goal scorer, by percentage.
As an example historically, this is the top-20 goal scoring variations within a single season (I've bolded the Hart winners):
In 1965-66 Bobby Hull led by 40.74%
In 1990-91 Brett Hull led by 40.7%
In 1983-84 Wayne Gretzky led by 35.63%
In 1952-53 Gordie Howe led by 34.69%
In 1951-52 Gordie Howe led by 34.04%
In 1961-62 Bobby Hull led by 34%
In 1970-71 Phil Esposito led by 32.89%
In 1966-67 Bobby Hull led by 32.69%
In 1981-82 Wayne Gretzky led by 30.43%
In 1956-57 Gordie Howe led by 25%
In 1971-72 Phil Esposito led by 24.24%
In 1999-00 Pavel Bure led by 24.14%
In 1973-74 Phil Esposito led by 23.53%
In 1991-92 Brett Hull led by 22.86%
In 2001-02 Jarome Iginla led by 21.15%
In 1987-88 Mario Lemieux led by 20%
In 2007-08 Alex Ovechkin led by 20%
In 2020-21 Auston Matthews led by 19.51%
In 1955-56 Jean Beliveau led by 19.15%
In 2014-15 Alex Ovechkin led by 18.87%
Goal scoring isn't really the Hart indicator you'd think it is. When I look at this year, I'm not even sure Matthews gets in the top-3 if he doesn't crack 70 goals.

The Hart Trophy is given to the player that fits whatever given media narrative is sexy each year.
I'm afraid 70 goals won't even be enough. |

Somehow, Kucherov has 51 more points than the next highest player (Point) on the team.
That's (frank)ing bonkers. |

If sexiness won it, Willy Stallionder would win every year.

Next year I'm gonna plan to take a train down to Jersey, watch the Leafs, go fish in the Delaware and suck back a bunch of pork roll egg and cheese for less than a nosebleed at the SBA. |

The arena is in Newark.
So you need to stay in Manhattan, take the PATH train (like GO), and then immediately after the game take the PATH train back.
Or stay and be murdered. |

And just because I'm bored:
Fly into Tampa on Tuesday, April 16th.
Fly out again on the 18th.
Stay at the Hilton Garden in Tampa Ybor City (8.4/10 on Trip Advisor).
$742 per person, based on double occupancy.
Looks like $100 gets you a decent upper bowl ticket.
I'll run the numbers again flying out of Buffalo.
