How on earth is everyone not rooting for 69 here?

I haven't rooted this hard for a goal in a long long time.

I use to think 70 was a pipe dream, but it's within reach. I hope he runs over Ovi's mark and steamrolls his way to 70.

he bettered McDavid's 64 goals from last year.

I mean seriously, McDavid is better than everybody else, but is he really that MUCH better than elite guys like Matthews and Ducherov?

Every elite player has their one or two areas when they excel the most.

Matthews is shooting. He is a pure sniper. He's great at many other things, but his shot is positively lethal.

Ducherov is a chessplayer and playmaker. He's not fast. He's not very physical. But he sees the game on a level that I think exceeds any other active player, including Jesus and Sid.

McJesus, to me, seems like a Mario Lemieux type of elite - just really f-ing good at everything, but not necessarily the best at a given single aspect of the game. He wasn't the fastest, etc.

Have you ever seen him play my meteor dino bone friend? McDavid is probably the best handler of the puck ever. He goes 0-60 with the puck taped to his stick like no other human. It's insane.

Also Mario did 0-50 and was 6'4. Similar, but not quite the speed.

I've never seen him live in person. I've seen a lot of highlight videos. Yes, he is a sick dangler with turbo-charged afterburners. His passing turned Hyman into a 50+ goal scorer.

If there is a weakness in McDavid's game, then what is it? Or, I guess I shouldn't say weakness, because he's not weak at anything. But, what part of his game is not quite up to the same level? Is there? Genuinely asking.

If he drags the Oilers to a Cup, I'll buy in.

Quick Tampa magic number update: 5

Tampa and the Leafs each have 5 games remaining.

If Tampa goes 5-0, the Leafs only have to go 2-2-1 to clinch.

Florida's magic number to beat the Leafs: 7

Kuch is 7 assists away from 100. He can technically get there. He might get 100 assists and he already has 40 goals on the season. That's not being talked about enough.

Call me a blue Kool-Aid chugger, but if Matthews gets a few more, I think you have to give him the Hart Trophy.

He's doing something that has only been by the elite of the elite.

Let's say he gets to 68.

The only other guys who have done that are:

Gretzky, Hull, Lemieux, Mogilny, Esposito, Selanne, Kurri, Bernie Nichols, Bossy.

And there are fancy stats to show that what he is doing is probably top 3 of all time, when adjusted for era.

I made the same argument yesterday, he may not get nominated. at least thats how the lists have trended. but upper 60's in goals, may force him to the top 3..no matter how bad they dont want to do it
