Random thought.

Could Marner be a centre?

If not what does he lack that makes you think he could not?

- Cush29

I don’t know why he couldn’t be a centre.

I know there was some debate about the Reaves fight the other night and how much it did or did not change the game or spark the bench.

Saw this video clip and thought it clearly fired up the bench but for whatever reason it didn't translate to the Leafs coming back.

What I really laughed at is the reactions of the players.

Robertson (who likely has never fought in his life) goes nuts and almost falls over the boards.

Domi and Matthews also pretty entertaining reactions but the best (ok funniest maybe more than best) is JT. Robot like tapping his stick on the boards, then it's obvious the knockdown at the end occurs and you can see him (or his stick) just start tapping again like the program was on loop and had just reset. lmao

So Bunting, O’Reilly, Kerfoot, Acciari, and Lafferty should be considered on par with Bertuzzi, Domi, McMann, Dewar, and Reaves?

I might be entirely wrong but I think the secondary scoring on the team this year is far stronger and I also think it will show come playoff time. Look at the extras too, last year it was Aston-Reese and Simmonds where this year it’s looking like Robertson and Holmberg.

- Dozzer

I would say ROR and Bunting provide as much scoring as Domi and Bertuzzi
Kerfoot extra

At least you aren’t hiding

Skill wise I’d totally believe he’s capable of it. Face offs tho…. Those times when the pucks seems to stick to the dot and the two guys taking it have to have one of those “who’s the physically strongest?” one on ones I don’t see it going too well for Marner.

I know I don’t know at all lol, it’s simply the only guess I was ever able to think of when it came to this.

a teams big offseason addition was IKF ..why are they not getting more hits?

the jays have turned into the defensive team Leaf fans have wanted... trying to win games 0 to -1

- senstroll

I would say turner is their best off season acquisition.
Not a fan of ikf so far.

Matthews' reactions to stuff are pretty good. That meme of his reaction to the slapshot at the allstar game was hilarious.

There are some big strong centres who suck at faceoffs, like MacKinnon and Malkin. That being said, I get what you’re saying.

Well ROR is essentially their former Bertuzzi, a top six guy who can play physical. Also it was ROR that didn’t want to stay in Toronto.

I like Domi more than Bunting, won’t lie. Bunting got dumped off by a competitor to Pittsburgh and his totals for the year are 45P at 75GP for $4.5 million for 3 years. Domi has 42P at 75GP at $3 million for 1 year. I’ll stick with my preference.

And I’ll take McMann over someone like Kerfoot as well. Cheaper, younger, and has the same talent. May be a touch under developed than Kerfoot but not by much.

As for that 4th line the leafs are far tougher than they were last year that’s for damn sure. As of late they’ve been playing great with a strong physical offence. Not playing with talent as much as their bodies, way better than last year.

Ya I guess Reeves should have said "no no I don't want to fight and try and spark my team to get back into this game but thanks for the offer".

Stupid Reaves.

Yeah they’re terrible but the one thing they can handle is the physical part of it protecting their bad stat from even getting worse lol.

I’d truly be curious how often Marner’s skill with his stick would avoid it all together tho. Maybe he’s decent at it but not quite good enough?

IKF was the biggest deal and they signed early'ish..multiple years (after the ohtani nonsense was decided). for some reason he was a priority.

so to me he was the target. Turner was a last second addition. cant say he was in the plans

So 2.59 ppg

Vs

2.25 ppg

However, with the leafs RoR wouldnt be getting top lines mins.....so that could impact how many points he would get here.

sparking your team is one thing. Them acting like fanboys at first fight is another. They channeled all that happiness into getting outshot 11-4. At home. Against a rival that is chasing you down.
