Dining scene, nightlife, ratio of hot women to uglies, business opportunities will differ wildly tho. Like Winnipeg and Raleigh aren't gonna hold a candle to Vegas and NYC in any of those regards.

Yes he's respected.

He played in Barrie and he comes from a broadcasting bloodline.

I should've said current cap space. Under the cap was misleading. They're really good at identifying which player to keep and spend on. Also how to deploy and use players. Like when they walked away from Hamilton. I always think they're a couple of elite players away.
- MJL

Look at how well they play without elite players. I'd say give em a Sorokin or Hellebuyck and they'd be damn near unstoppable.

That would boost them for sure. I wish at some point they would make an exception on their guidelines and go outside the wire. Aho is probably the only player they have that is elite. Possibly Guentzel

I am so tired of Tort’s drama queen antics. The parallels between this organization and the Charlestown Chiefs in Slapshot! are too many too name.

Who own da Chiefs? Who own da Flyers?
Reggie Dunlop and John Tortorella.
Ned Braden and Sean Couturier.
Reggie and Ned vs Torts and Couts
Dave Killer Carlson and Nic Deslauriers
The love of old time hockey.
I tell ya, I am waiting for Couts to strip on the ice before the end of the season. That would really capture the spirit of the thing.

Do you actually think coming from a broadcasting bloodline makes someone more reputable?

Isn't that a bit ironic considering how you always expect us to take you more seriously because your dad "works for the Flyers"?

Players don't get paid by the game. Again, for contracts that have already been negotiated. What mechanism do they use to lower player salaries to make up for the lost revenue by playing less games? My statement was correct. For now on, if you move my posts from another thread, I will not respond.
- MJL

You can’t be this obtuse. The players have in past had salaries reduced. Look at lockout. If the league went to say 70 games the players would have to agree under the cba and surely their salary would be reduced from an 82 game average to 70. Or whatever game total. It’s apple and oranges.

You certainly were wrong. You said league COULDNT reduce games because teams wouldn’t be financially blah blah blah.

Wrong. The payroll and cap would obviously go down.

The split is 50/50 on revenue between owners players. Less games less revenue less cap.

Obviously players would have to agree to it.

This is a RANT!! I would like you to be warned and also I'm so POed I would like to wreck FRONTIER AIRLINES.
This is my equivalent to a PSA.
RANT ALERT!!! RANT ALERT!!!!
Yesterday I left my home at 9:00 AM to go to the Tampa Airport. I had packed my bags the day before in order to be at the terminal by 11:58 AM. I had purchased a flight from Frontier Airlines and at the time of that purchase, a week prior, they never mentioned a seat assignment.
Arriving at the airport I went to the Frontier desk and requested a boarding pass, which I paid for with an added priority boarding (all at extra cost). No mention was made of a need for a seat there while paying for the privilege of early boarding.
I arrived at the boarding gate and a delay occurred due to a lack of staff. 1/2 hour went by and then we qued up. I was the second priority person. I was told I could not board as I had no seat assigned. There was an offer previously of a $300 voucher if you gave up your seat. I didn't want this as I was going to visit my sister, who is in the hospital.
They then offered a voucher for $250 for us to walk away. $50 less for being involuntarily shoved aside. Fair, eh?
I was not seduced by an offer from a PERFECTLY CORRUPT CORPSERATION. They do this deliberately by overbooking flights to ensure a full plane and to hell with those left behind. It's just the 'cost of doing business' in their corporate model.
I asked instead for a refund that I was told would take 5-7 days.
If I were more poor (I'm fortunately not.) how would I book another flight? They had no flights available for at least two days.
I was enraged and since the security in airports does not favor loud people, (I am one.). I walked away and figured I would return to the desk and ask for a manager.
What I learned is that all the managers were at the gates dealing with the BS they caused across all of their flights.
I waited an hour.
Since my bag had been loaded, I questioned as to what procedure would be followed to return it. I was informed by a clerk (incorrectly) that it was MY RESPONSIBILITY to get it back. More joy.
I did discover that the bag that was dropped in Philly would be on a return flight the next day and that I would be notified about delivery. The manager and the baggage folks at least knew what they were doing. They probably get a lot of practice with these situations.
I contacted my Credit Card company and told them I was contesting/disputing the cost of the fight and any added charges made by FRONTIER AIRLINES. I got immediate credit.
My return flight was to be on American which is a far more professional company and I took the economy fare as they would rectify any situation and I needed no further guarantees. (I could be wrong, it's happened before.)
Since I am not in Philly I lost that fare as American explicitly states NO REFUNDS are due in this circumstance.
I lost maybe $400 in fares and associated fees. I spent a full day not going further than my doorstep. Two hours on the road, tolls for the expressway, and a $14 parking charge later, my hair was afire and I had no one I could bite.
If you mention FRONTIER AIRLINES TO ME, I will slowly turn.....

Wow!!!! YOU (frank)ED UP BIG TIME!!! Learn the fed regulations on being bumped. I love being bumped and sometimes take the offers to get bumped.

If you were bumped you could’ve demanded regulated compensation (probably around $1200 or so) AND they would’ve had to guarantee you a seat on next flight leaving to your destination

Honest question. Why do you think the players union would accept making less money? Especially on previously signed contracts.
- MBFlyerfan

Hypothetically because league would have to have consent to lower games. In this scenario 70 games. If players AGREED to lower games under cba obviously they’d have to agree to the cut to reflect that.

Would players agree to less games? Actually maybe. Many players complain now about wear on body from schedule.

Silly topic but: Have you been to the area? It was startling for me to go down there (my wife was doing her Masters) and see how much skewed the ratio was in the opposite direction.

Also, in Manhattan a hockey player is nothing too special. The place is crawling with hotshots. In Raleigh/Chapel Hill there are tens of thousands of young women from 3 large universities and a pro sports star would have easy pickings.

I should say you can't possibly be this stupid but obviously you are. A lockout is the league locking out the players and ceasing to play. Not the same as the players voluntarily agreeing to a reduction in salary in a negotiation.

My statement was 100% correct and you're clueless. Again. You've failed to prove that my statement was wrong.

I agree with you. There is no way the players association is going to allow the teams to drop 12 games. The players salary is based on revenue, and dropping 12 games per team is a huge drop in income. The average revenue for an NHL game is $2 million. Losing 12 games per team is a loss of 384 games. That would be a loss of revenue between $500 and $750 million. They are already bltching about the loss of profit with Arizona playing in a building with 5000 max capacity. There is no way they are going to roll back games played and players income.
- TheFreak

Thank you… so you actually agree with ME… that in order for reduction in games players would take pay cut because the revenue split is 50/50.

They whole debate wasn’t about that it was mjl stating league wouldn’t cut games because they wouldn’t be able to maintain financial stability. WHICH IS WRONG as you also stated player cost would go down.

Yes they’d make less profits for themselves but not be able to maintain financial stability is ignorant obtuse by mjl not realizing other cost would have to go down to. It’s a wash.
