Is this a government job? If so I’m glad to hear you are doing CRC and social media checks.

Lots of people can fool others for 30 min to an hour in and interview so these CRC’s social media and reference checks are super important.

It never ceases to amaze that I didn’t get reference calls over the years where some of my biggest problem staff move on to new jobs.

Clean CRC

The most creepy bizarre interview I had was with a woman who had just entered my office and sat down. As the interview was just about to start, she walked over and closed my door. I asked her to leave it open - she didn’t and sat down. I walked over and opened it, she immediately got up and closed it again as I was asking her to leave it open. I walked into the hall where I could be seen and heard and said the interview was over…have a nice day. She wanted to continue the interview. I said I had learned enough and had one of our CSR’s escort her out, and I promptly locked the door behind her.

My questions were largely rhetorical as I agree with CC's response. I was hoping to see Wedgie re(butt)al.

And just to be clear, it wasn't intended to be snarky questions on my part - I just genuinely am curious as to why GMs of contending teams value players like Reaves while casual(ish) fans like us seem to think it's a terrible/net-negative asset to have.

For the record, I'm not entirely pleased with what he brings to the table, but I think there is absolutely a reason he exists and it's not to play minutes on the poop teams in this league.

For most of the year I agreed with Wedgie’s assessment and thought his game was crap. He just wasn’t fast enough to get in on the forecheck in time to disrupt the play/kill someone etc. He seems to have found a step and gained some confidence in the process.

It’s pretty much what I thought about Bert’s game (although with some more skill) for most of the year. Bert seems quicker and now more capable of playing with skilled guys.

This year I started to bring a tough guy into my interviews with me to make sure no funny stuff happens and to keep the other side honest and to create some space in the room for me. I feel more confident with him there and my interviewing results are undeniable.
