Would be nice if the Leafs could leap frog FLA and get home ice advantage in the first round.

Working up at my father's house today.

Computer is set up in front of a window, so I'm looking out at cold, grey, wet and dreary.

I'm going to be one depressed motherBozaker by the end of the day.

And my feet are already freezing - gonna have to quietly turn up the thermostat and hope he doesn't notice.

I work in front of the window upstairs every day. Our place is about 30 years old and by now the windows are due to be replaced, but it's currently one of those things that's "on the list" - since it's probably about $20k to go through and replace all the windows.

Anyway I have a space heater sitting beside me and it has probably saved my life. At first you'd think that's hyperbolic, but if I start turning up the heat in the house there's a solid chance my wife will kill me. She's already at that, "God it's hot in here. Don't you think it's hot in here?" and I'm like, "What? No, it . . . yes, it's hot. Very, very hot." and then I go put on a sweatshirt.

I'd rather see them start on the road as they are a better road team than a home team

I prefer the idea of a possible game 7 being at home.

If you went with odds on favourites - just a simple look at home/away and winning percentage without getting too detailed and without considering loser points, you probably end up with something akin to:

Boston
Florida
Toronto
Rangers
Carolina
Philadelphia
Detroit
Islanders

The Islanders have:

Columbus Blue Jackets
Nashville Predators
New York Rangers
Montreal Canadiens
@ New York Rangers
@ New Jersey Devils
Pittsburgh Penguins

The Capitals have:

Pittsburgh Penguins
@ Carolina Hurricanes
Ottawa Senators
@ Detroit Red Wings
@ Buffalo Sabres
Tampa Bay Lightning
Boston Bruins
@ Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers have:

@ Buffalo Sabres
@ Columbus Blue Jackets
@ Montreal Canadiens
@ New York Rangers
New Jersey Devils
Washington Capitals

The Wings have:

New York Rangers
Buffalo Sabres
Washington Capitals
@ Pittsburgh Penguins
@ Toronto Maple Leafs
Montreal Canadiens
@ Montreal Canadiens

Just on strict simple odds, the Capitals look like it's going to hard for them to do it - especially considering that they haven't been overly great all year - they've just exceeded expectations.

Me too. And Gio picked a good time to come back hard and ready for the playoffs. He's not a magic elixir for the defense, but it's nice having some solid veteran depth when the real battles begin.

I called BS on this stat.

And then I ran the numbers.

Holy poop.

37 games at home. 45 points.

37 away games. 50 points.

I'd love to know that last time a team finished an NHL season with a better away record than home.

Magic number update - number of combined points won by Leafs, points lost by other teams, to ensure they can't catch the Leafs:

Tampa: 11

Washington: 4

Detroit: 2

Islanders: 1

Philly: 1

But here's the more important nugget: win or tie tonight, and we are in the playoffs.

Ya he was pretty good ...I assume Timmins sits for Rielly tonight.

That creates a bit of a lefty/righty issue .....it'll upset some but I wouldn't be surprised to see Brodie on the right tonight.

Turner and Schneider been the best jays so far.

The pitching is going to be solid all year, if they can somehow give Manoah the Sammy treatment, just wow. But I think he's more than likely going to turn out to be a Ricky Romero.

Thankfully there are a few games remaining to figure out these pairings before the postseason begins. Brodie's exposure needs to be limited and very situational. I just don't have a lot of faith in Queefe to puzzle it out in a logical way.

I'm gonna EXPLODE Blue and White tonight!

I won't make predictions. I won't call anything. I can't.

I can't lose tonight as long as nobody gets hurt.

Let's have a clean game and let the pucks fall where they may.

I'm not as cold on Brodie as some ..he's dipped for sure and he seems to be less effective against bigger opponents but he's still had some really good games. He's still a lot better than Gio and Timmins and probably a few others.

For me the PK is a big concern ...that should factor into who he plays in the playoffs. Need to have your best PKers in the lineup against FLA and/or BOS.
