I'm thinking people saw 2 guys hit 61 (Pasta) and 64 (McJesus) goals last season while Zach Hyman is trending towards 59 himself this year and, as a result, are undervaluing AM34's totals.

Really hoping he hits 67 this year as it would be absurdly symbolic.

Dude, just to be clear, I'm not undervaluing it all - it's one for the ages!

I'm just speculating on the potential retarded narratives that are probably being used to undermine what he's accomplished.

- mjones242

Oh ya man! Fair enough. Sorry misinterpreted the post eh. My bad…and I agree. Honestly though he could break 92 and haters of Leafs would still dismiss it

I don't think people are talking enough about how good Matthews is at hockeying.

All the chatter is about the 3-way sausage party of Duch, Mac, and Jesus.

- GalacticStone

Alot of players are having great seasons.
I believe McJesus wasnt even in the top 15 in scoring in November or something like that.

Any particular reason? Just no money? Maybe it's time to stop putting hockey in NFLD.

Mcjesus is why.

And I won't take away from Hyman here, he is a perfect fit for Mcdavid and he has earned the favourable position.

McDavid finally found his Jari Kurri.

I like you man - but only a fool would undervalue 34’s season. Only 9 other players scored 60+ twice it’s insane. That’s the accomplishment by its self…but 67 would be crazy indeed. I’m pulling for it…and pulling it when it happens

It’s not impressive cause a guy making 1/3rd of Matthews salary is trending towards 60 goals.
Plus this version of NHL is extremely tipped towards offence. Can’t quote numbers but there was a wild amount of players playing at a PPG last year. Back in 2010 there was maybe 15 guys at or around that pace - compared to now it’s insanity.
Can’t respect a guy getting a lot of goals when there’s another dude doing the same thing Matthews has/is doing at almost 1/3rd the cost - amazing value and Hyman earns his goals too. Probably more motivated this year because of the terrorist attacks on Israel back in October. Who knows.
