I’ve watched the Leafs for over 50yrs. Seen lots of great players. Saw Sittlers 10 point night, Gilmour and Clark were amazing and amazing always……always showed up and always gave absolutely everything they had. Matt’s Sundin was pretty dominant and nobody messed with him……saw Salming play for years……..great man…..and yet, you have an agrument that Matthew’s is the best. The most talent of that bunch but probably not near the top for heart, although he is improving in that regard.

meh he is breaking Leafs goal records..doing thing maybe 1 other player has done in 30 or 40 years.

I was around for the Gilmour, Sundin playoff runs..but 1 player cant win you a cup. And its tougher then ever in the NHL with more teams.

I honestly don't know if Wendel and Dougie showed up and gave everything they had in that series against LA. It was more like they got bent over.
- Zezel

Game 7, 3rd round lost bt a goal.

Gimme a break

Gilmour put the leafs on his back and carried the team.
Matthews needs to the same in the playoffs.
1 win in the 2nd round over 8 years....doesnt cut it.

We've seen players carry teams in the playoffs,. For me, Matthews has to do that. Doesnt have to result in a cup, but needs to be deep playoffs runs. Even just a couple.

Should have won it in game 6 instead of getting bent over. At least they got a 3rd round participation trophy.

You’re coming off like a troll right now. This is the kind of garbage that leafs haters spew on pretty much every forum that exists.

- shack67

Why?
Cause i feel matthews has to lead the team deep into the playoffs to grab hold of "best leaf all time"? I didnt say cup, but further than 1 win in the 2nd round.

Hes our best reg season player and imo number 2 overall.....or now.

Dont be so sensitive

You’re coming off like someone who is seeking attention. You don’t even watch the games anymore, you watch baseball.

I’m talking about you saying that you rarely watch the games anymore. But you’re always reporting on what’s happening in the jays game, even though you know the rest of us are watching hockey.

I don't mind this at all. Knies is in his first pro season and he came from college. He's never played so many games in a season before. Might as well manage it a bit.
