Should they re sign Frost and York long-term this summer to potentially get a better deal?
- Trox88

I would consider York in the right deal but I'd wait on Frost.

York they absolutely better lock him in. The kid is a stud.
I think frost is a needed commodity on this team and also think he's shown it with his recent play in this stretch drive gauntlet of games.
Without fear of being benched he is allowed to show just how creative he really is. I'd hate to lose him now that he is rounding out his game

York is gonna get 8 yrs- just cost of doing business. I'm very confident Briere trades Laughton- just my hunch. The vagueness of the Risto injury has me concerned about his availability long-term. If he is not ready by training camp, it would be awful to see another Flyers player be potentially done. I can't see a way Risto could get traded until next sumner at the earliest to prove he is healthy.

Probably but I'm not a big fan of 8 year deals for non star players. They can be beneficial though. The sooner they can get rid of Ristolainen the better. I knew it was an awful trade the day it was made. I wasn't alone.

It's a process, Rome was not built in a day. The past two seasons the Flyers were laughing stocks to other teams in the league, and worst of all for Flyers fans, they were not a likeable team to root for. This year has been the first good hockey season in the past several years, it has been a step in the right direction. The Flyers are an exciting team to watch, and they have young players that a Flyers fan can get behind and root for. Of course they are far away from contention, everyone knows that beginning with Jones, Briere and Torts. But I for one look forward to watching every single game the Flyers play and can't wait to see what they do this off-season and the draft.
- jd250

Please tell us why the moves chuckles made when trading for rr and ellis put the team on the path to contention.

Until you can square those facts you really should just stfu

Man I still can't believe fedotov is here.

It nakes total sense why DB didn't upgrade the back up position. This had to be in the works for weeks, if not a month or more since I imagine getting a visa for a Russian player who is Russian military doesn't sound like a cake walk.

Nor so much as a peep from anyone, just like the mitchkov meetings that happened.
And the quitter G fiasco.

DB is running things like he's been doing this for years

- Bob Habib[/img]

Yes, I can't believe it either. I know it's cool to hate on DB on HB (he's a former Flyer), but I like what he's done so far and think he has a vision for the future. We have to give him time. He will make mistakes but I hope and think he will do well in the long run.

How's Myers doing these days? How's that Coots contract looking? Just asking for a friend.

Yes, he is quietly becoming a stud! Hope he can stay healthy cause he does tend to take some big hits and he's not all that big.

Be a great deal for the Flyers, but why would York sign that?
He is definitly worth more than $2m more than Seeler, right?

In a contact sport where any shift could effectively be your last, and the average career is 4-5 years, you take the job security. And $40M ain't nothing to scoff at for a guy who isn't exactly Cale Makar.

Plus he doesn't have any leverage since he can't go to arbitration yet and nobody's probably gonna offer sheet him.

You are probably right….I wouldn’t be shocked to see him signed long term…but maybe a bridge deal…2 year 11 mil. ? You see it both ways now. Some teams like Ottawa are trying to lock guys up early and long term based on potential for the most part. A team like Anaheim are more the bridge deal type.
DB did look up Tippet long term, but his contract situation was different.

Obviously great news on Fedotov. What I’d like to know now is what will happen moving forward. If he plays pretty well during this audition, I’m assuming that DB tries to sign him. As a UFA, I wonder if he’d be amenable to signing a contract or whether he’ll test the market. Also, I wonder what DB would have to pay him to forego UFA? I suspect it’ll be a lot more than the ELC amount. They’ll have to make a big decision and will only have a few games to decide. I’d love it if he could sign some sort of bridge deal, say 3 yrs 6 or 7 mil to we could be sure but i suspect he won’t. Hes already 27 and will want to cash in now. Might be tricky.

DB did say they watched most of his games this year, so I would think they know what they have or don’t have. I think it’s in the guys best interest to get something done as well. I think we’ll see a two year deal.

I agree with this. Sounds to me as if DB has made up his mind that he wants to extend him at least a couple of years. I mean, really, what else does he have. Sandstrom and Petersen have clearly showed that they aren't to be trusted as NHL goalies.

7/8-year deals are the absolutely worst. Even if you have a stud and sign them aftef their ELC the contract will end at 28-29. Then what do you do -- you wind up with a Couturier-ish contract....

I agree. I just see that he has leverage and it could cost us a bit. I’d surely sign him to an extension otherwise, why go though all this to get him over here?

We're going to find out just how close Jones, Briere and Tortorella think they are to contention. I bet they act like they're a lot closer then they actually are.

Hopefully they do the right thing and start by trading Konecny and Laughton if they can find the right deals. Try and move that stiff Ristolainen without taking it on the chin too badly and for heavens sake, stop signing players like Staal and Hathaway.

- MJL

This is where we simply disagree. Staal and Hathaway are fine signings that play the game the right way, and don't cost too much in terms of % of the cap. Both have moveable contracts and Hathaway only has 1 more year. I am all for trading Laughton. I love him as a player and he is once again having a terrific year for the Flyers, but with Poehling coming on, I think the Flyers can lose Laughton and get a good return. Risto should be traded to open up some spots for young defenseman to come in. Given his injury, the Flyers will probably take it on the chin, but more likely will wait until the deadline next season to move him. I'm not there with TK. I love him as a player, he is still young and IF the Flyers can sign him to a team friendly deal I want the Flyers to extend him.
