So 18 goals for Mackenzie Weegar. Why is Huberdeau getting all the attention for that trade when the top scoring D man was also part of the deal.

Did they immediately sign Weegar to the worst contract in the history of the league?

The trade was a fantastic one. The extension basically cancelled it out.

I dont get too worried about the trade. It was a good trade, way better than the return of Gaudreau. Its just we had stars & we dont have any right now. Weegar & Huberdeau, even Kadri are decent NHLer's but we need some young stars to forge the new identity of the Flames. These contracts are going to be a non factor for the next 3-4 years as we painfully find these new future Calgary Flame stars.

Bigger question is do we extend Sharangosonofab!tch? What does that look like? 6-7 years $6.0mill per or too soon for that kind of contract? He's sure trending the right way.

He’s young enough to keep but I’d try the 5.2 Mangiapani deal. Not sure he’d sign it but you can always go up but never down.
I agree on the new stars of the Flames, Conroy and crew can’t have any 1st or 2nd round mistakes. They’ve always seem to find a gem in the later rounds, I’m liking that Lipinski pick from last year.
I’m really torn with our 1st round selection, I’ve had a chance to watch Iginla live. I think he’s a star in the making and would be a great pick for the Flames. Just not sure if he’ll be the bpa at our pick. Excited to see what Conroy has up his sleeve when the draft comes along. Does he trade a player for another top 12 pick? Trade Vancouvers 1st and a 2nd or even 2 2nds for a chance to move up in the draft and take Iginla later? Probably won’t have to worry too much once we pull an Oiler and win the lottery to take Celibrini.

Hopefully there is a little discount as the Flames pulled him out of a rough situation. He has gotten a lot of positive exposure here.

It has been a great trade for the Flames so far.
