I love Bobby Ryan twitter.

Poor guy. Just went overboard with a politically incorrect view. Social media sucks. Hopefully those close to him checked in to make sure there was no relapse involved.

He's inadvertently causing more people to pay attention to women's sports. It's hilarious. (Obviously not if there's a substance issue)

Tried NHL lottery simulator 10 times.

It landed on 7th pick on 70% of pulls. the other 3 tries came up 8th.

Went to the gym last night - after too many days off.
Arizona Vegas was on one of the screens. Was 4-1 going into the 3rd for VGK. How Arizona came back is unreal.

Sens need to tank here big time. Finishing 5th or 6th worst gives them a really good chance at #1 or #2 - it also gives them a significant piece IMO if they can draft anywhere in the top 6. I'm sure who will be left at 8. 7th is a minimum for me

The issue is that whomever they draft in positions 2-7 will not play for the Sens for maybe 3 or 4 years. The draft will not fix any immediate woes for years. It is simply to be used to refill the pipeline.

We'll move up to #2 in the draft because Bettman feels bad about lying to new Sens owner... Right? It's all rigged. Bettman loves Canadian teams.

While I agree with you completely (about waiting)

Jake Sanderson (5th) played in the NHL 24 months after being drafted.
Brady Tkachuk (4th) played in the NHL 4 months after being drafted.
Tim Stutzle (3rd) played 3 months after being drafted.

Yes played like Alexander Holtz and William Eklund need at least 2 years to play a full season, but it's very possible for Sens to get a piece that helps them in some capacity right away or after 1 year. Also it helps Staios focus on other needs as well (say if we get a Artyom Levshunov or Carter Yakemchuk) - we can focus on goaltending and forwards. A bridge D-man free agent could be brough in for the years to fill that gap

Seeing another empty net kerfuffle is pretty funny, doubly so since it involves Ottawa again.

Of course, Brady went about it the proper way.

So you guys applaud some plug being an ass on an empty net - then get all whiny baby about an actual talented player doing HALF of what the plug did?

If Tkachuk and the boys showed half that passion during the season maybe you would have a shot at post season. Such an immature group you all have in that room eh

I think your assessment is correct. Sens have tried to develop kids on the fly and that is a highly challenging pathway even for the most talented coach. It also creates expectations among fans and media that can distract them away from the obvious.

Keep it simple. The Sens went from being a disappointing hockey team to being a bad hockey team the moment they fired DJ. Perhaps no accident that the LA Kings turned their season around when they hired DJ.

I never believed DJ was the problem. Nor do I think hiring a new coach this summer will offer a solution. The problem has always been with the roster and the players on the ice.

Many observers, especially insiders who understand the game repeatedly said "DJ is not the problem." If nothing else we should now acknowledge that DJ was not the problem and the team went backwards with his departure.

The departure of DJ adversely impacted some individual players and it took on a personal nature and we should not doubt the schism that has developed between some important players and management. Clearly some players are unhappy with the Ottawa setting and the Ottawa media and some segments of the fan base.

So, if DJ was not the problem and Jacques Martin is not the solution...what is the answer? First everybody needs to get ready to face up to the reality that a new coaching staff will not make a lot of difference.

Reality sucks. The Senators have struggled all season because they give up soft goals in key situations.

Fix the soft goal problem and most of the other problems will magically disappear.

This may be an unpopular opinion but maybe Brady shouldn't be the captain of this team? Especially with Claude Giroux in the room?

Too much shenanigans. Love the passion but maybe too much passion?

End of game stuff tonight wasn't necessary or warranted. And was very hypocritical. Makes him look like a clown and the team as soft and sensitive.

Not the first person I've heard express this feeling on Brady as captain. Be curious to see how people feel in the off season after another wasted season.

Good news is Brady is a guy who can dominate the playoffs when he gets there.

Bad news is, the team has to get there first.

This right here. I was at the game and this is exactly what I thought when I saw Brady go after the Devils player.

Our first period was abysmal. Second was better and if we had played like we did in the 3rd,we could won this contest. I felt that single game perfectly reflected the entire 2023/24 season.

Roy Orbison was a remarkable singer. In addition to music, he loved cars and his beautiful wife. His wife had an affair with the guy who was his swimming pool contractor. So, he fired the pool guy. He hired a new pool guy and his wife had an affair with him as well. So, naturally, he fired that guy too. He did not want a guy who scored on his wife. Orbison died at a young age of a heart attack. His wife got all his money. The pool guys also did okay. They all moved to Ottawa and became goaltenders.

PS. His wife (Claudette) did not actually get all his money. After one more affair Orbison gave her a motorcycle and she got crushed and instantly killed by a huge semi on one of her very early rides. She was 24. They first married when she was 16. Divorced, married again and then went bike riding.

I am not sure what to say about Brady. I like him as a player but man, it’s tiring seeing him just run around looking for fights. The empty net shenanigans were unnecessary and hypocritical. Leaf fans were right to mock on social media.

Rather than trying to win games, his ‘leadership’ seems to be physical intimidation. It’s too bad because he is actually a smart hockey player as we saw from the clever screen on the OT goal last night.

I’m shocked that Jacques Martin has not tried to tone his running around ways. Whoever is the next coach of this team needs to figure his game out if he is going to remain the captain of the team. While some emotion is good, too much just gets embarrassing. Especially when it is not changing results.

Sens rank 15th in goal scoring. Not bad for a young team.

Sens rank 28th in goals against.

If Sens want to make a playoff run next year they need to cut down on the goals against.

Do they have the shut down centre they need? Will Kleven add enough physical presence in front of their own net? Does one of the existing goalies journey to Lourdes or Fatima in hope of a miracle healing?

theory OTT could win 1st or 2nd OA as compensation for betman and the NHL omitting the Pinto investigation and the loss of the first rounder which is a crime because it could have affected the sale of the sens to Adlauer.

There is a definite lack of enthusiasm over this latest late season pushback from the team and its players, where in the past it is has given the fanbase hope and raised expectations.

Just "more of the same" vibe.

That's if one believe Bettman interferes with the draft lotter. If they were going to do something like that, they'd be more likely to tell the to Sens appeal the pick forfeiture and then walk it back to a lesser penalty.

it is 100% guaranteed that the draft lotery is not a lotery, the NHL chooses who wins, it is why they keep the whole thing secret.

If you had bothered to read this blog's response to Grieg's slapshot, you'd realize it was far more measured and critical of the move than you are insinuating. But of course you didn't read it, because you are a troll, leveraging misinformation in a feeble attempt to rankle people. Sad, really. Shoo troll, back under the bridge.
