Well, most OT games end quickly, or fairly quickly, so maybe?

i think it may have been PR bullpoop. i thought they were trying to add excitement to broaden the audience. but there's no shame in being the 4th biggest sport. just be really good at being the 4th biggest sport.

to me it's pretty obvious that playoff hockey is the most meaningful hockey to play, the stakes can't get any higher. not sure why you're wondering about this

Just goes to show how random gimmick the shootout is, or even, 3v3, when neither are even considered worthy of the playoffs.

I do suspect there will eventually be a push to do 3v3 5 min OT and shootout in the playoffs, down the road.

i just read that OT was 10 minutes of 5 on 5 until 1983. i did not know that.

well, the 3 on 3 is the compromise for the regular season, since having limitless 5 on 5 OT for 82 games wouldn't make sense at all.

also I'm pretty sure everyone, fans and players included, would be against 3 on 3 in the playoffs, wtf.

here's what i want now: 10 minutes of 3 on 3 OT and if somehow nobody scores after that 10 minute shooting gallery, there will be the rare occurrence of a tie where they split the points.

the tie returns, but hardly ever happens because now that we know what 3 on 3 looks like, how often can that go 10 minutes without somebody scoring?

Then every player on the ice at the opponents blue line, all get a puck, all have to shoot at once in unison. Most pucks kept out wins.

"in your face" goals, I like it.

in the PWHL they have a rule that puts an end to the PP if a team scores on the PK, I find that rather interesting.
