Take both of what out of the equation? Are you suggesting counting only regulation games? Please clarify.
- Stanley Cup

The Flyers have 28 regulation wins, 27 regulation losses, so they are above .500 ... barely. But regardless, the Flyers are a good team that has had a good season so far.

Honestly, I have a real problem counting OT losses as real losses and using it to artificially deflate the team's record to push forth a false narrative. OT is 3 on 3 which is not real hockey. And the shootout is even less real hockey. Sure, real hockey or not, OT and shootouts count as 1 additional standings point, but it's unfair to use OT losses as a basis to call a team mediocre.

The Flyers this year are well above a mediocre team and anyone who wants to say they are not have not been watching. The Flyers have stood toe-to-toe with some of the best teams in the league and have beaten many of them. And even teams they have not beat, like the Rangers, they have been right there in most of the games. The Flyers are not an elite or top tier team in the league, but they are, at least to me, a 2nd tier team; a team that should be in the playoffs and a team that a top team would not be eager to play. It's been a good hockey season and no one should discount this.

You still have an issue grasping sample size. A team or player is best judged over a large sample. Not in individual games. Being competitive is not the same as being good. The Flyers have lost more games then they've won as this current point. They rank 23rd in the league in goals scored. They have the league's worst PP. They rank 17th in the league in goals against. They have the 3rd best PK in the league. They currently rank 16th in the league in points percentage. They are the very definition of a mediocre team. Or average if you prefer that term.
The only reason you think they are anything more than what they are, is because you live in fantasy land.

Right back on the Torts Train. Flip-flop.
- Flyfly

Where do you see that?? I don't like Tort's OT approach. I have been criticizing Torts for weeks about this, way before many of you were saying anything about it. All I said is he was asked by Jason M about it and Tort's answered the question, so he is not ducking the media or the question.

You can take your stats and stick them up your dark cape! If you can't simply acknowledge that this team has had a good season and has played toe to toe with the top teams in the league, then you are the only one in fantasy land. No one is saying this is a top tier team and a legitimate cup contender. The Flyers are a rebuilding team that has taken a nice step this season. The structure is good. The young players are developing. Several vets are solidifying they are very good players in this league. And the team is fun to watch and easy to root for.

The fact that you come on this forum daily and bash this team from pillar to post only further proves what we all know already. You are NOT a fan, you ARE just a troll!

Probably not.

Keep in mind this article is 4 years old and I believe more rinks have shrunk since then.

CSKA is a Finnish size rink so still need time to make adjustments.

The CSKA Arena located at Legends Park (formerly the VTB Ice Palace) is the KHL’s only shared rink; both CSKA and Spartak play their home games there. CSKA moved last summer from their old CSKA Ice Palace, and last month they announced a change in ice-surface from the international size to the slightly smaller Finnish variant. The CSKA Arena is currently the KHL’s third-largest venue by capacity.

Yes, ignore the facts and just deal in fantasy. Calling the team what they legitimately are based on the facts, is not bashing the team.
You come off like a little child throwing a temper tantrum because someone said something you don't like. Whine to mommy.

You're also moving the goal posts again. Ranking the team on where they stand in the league in comparison to other teams is a different conversation then if they have improved or are fun to watch. Of course, you don't realize that though.

Great, the point is 6 teams, and probably more by now, play in NHL sized arenas. So he has already had to adjust, numerous times, in season, to the smaller rinks. I don't think it will be an issue.

So Torts is fine speaking in the comfy confines of a Jas M interview (total Homer BTW) but wont address the media. Wonderful...

Could be... I just don't think he is going to come over here and jump in as the backup to Errson. The guy was sent to a military base for a year of service and was not playing hockey. He is already 27... I think folks are a little to eager to throw him in the NHL.

Glad if it works out but not expecting him to be ready for this year.

28 and 37. A loss in OT is still a loss. The only reason it’s broken out is to call out the point they gained. In the end, they still lost those 10 games.

Now that we have a few seasons since their draft year, I think Flahr and Fletcher did the right thing in 2019 in picking York. I would rather have York than Caufield.

Yes, and the reality is you were wrong again, the Flyers are BETTER than a .500 team.

The Flyers lost those 10 games playing 3 on 3 pond hockey or in a skills competition. It's not REAL hockey and is no basis to gauge a team.

Nope, not according to the facts. The Flyers have played 73 games. They have won 36 games. How can a team that has won less then half of the games they've played, be a better than .500 team?

Honestly, are you really that thick?

With 10 games left - 9 after tonight - I doubt you see him this season.
That said, I'd hope that the Flyers would invite him over to see how he does for a potential re-signing for next season. I mean kick the tires...
