Last I looked (a month ago-ish) Petey had the best pk numbers out of our forwards. He quietly does all the things people refuse to see.

I have already dug into @passittobulis' new book, & I can't recommend it enough. The sheer amount of behind-the-scenes information is wild. A tonne of work went into this to add context to some of the #Canucks most crucial draft moments.

As a draft nerd, this is an unreal read.

Disappearing for stretches. Part of the PP problem. No doubt he’s been value for this contract but soon as next season starts it begins a new era & he won’t have any wiggle room when 11.6m kicks in. Elite contracts get elite attention. He’ll be fine.

Didn’t Rutherford mention that? Well not exactly but he did say petey will be a top 5 player in this league when he gets stronger.

Most just realize that the gold standard for defensive forwards Patrice Bergeron is a rarity. Same as other generational talents, they are in actuality few and far between. No different than scorers, generational, elite, great, good, the middle and bad.

I’ve cooled on Greeway big time. He’s lost out there & ineffective.

Keep our D together is a start. They bang pretty well & let’s see how they do in the PO’s. Up front is lacking & could use 1-2 that aren’t devoid of hockey skills & some results.

Of all forwards drafted since 2010, there has been 62 F to play 100+ games and maintain a point-per-game rate of 0.70+ (stars or pacing to be stars).

58/62 had an equivalency of 20+ in their draft year or D-1 year.

Of the 4 remaining (Verhaeghe, Bratt, Kyrou, Stone) were all born later in the year (May to August)... while also having DY equivalencies very near the 20 threshold.

I think the kings were relieved that game was over the Canucks bounced them around pretty good, keep playing the same way and be sharper around the net should be our goal. They shoot wide or high way to much.

Team toughness is the need. I don’t care if it’s a winger, D or a goalie. Zad and Joshua absolutely need to be brought back. This team is way too soft even with them

So next year then, by your thinking, when Petey has 30 points at the end of Dec I can come in here and say what a terrible contract. Paying a player 11.6 for thirty points a year is horrible?
