It could be argued either way, but I think the above is very true. Flyer are, historically, very impatient with young players. They have been very hesitant to let them learn through mistakes. - mr4tno
How can anyone argue how York was handled? |

Teenage stupidity certainly can wait for consequences. I can't.
Knowing that Carter has sought assistance from psych pros for an extended period and then had quit, I worry about him.
If no conviction is made, what do we do with him as a 'tarnished' former bright shiny thing? Merely release him at the end of his contract. He has been a serviceable pro and gave us his best. I don't forget that.
And finally this, "Couturier was back in the lineup against Boston and his line, alone with Olle Lycksell and Noah Cates, was arguably the team's best line. While they didn't score, they limited the Bruins chances when on the ice together. That shows in their 80.00 CF%. It's only one game, but doing that against Boston is not an easy feat."
https://broadstreetbuzz.c...-to-couturier-scratchings
I didn't edit this for readability but the primary stat is that 80% CF.
My eyes did not betray me when it appeared to me that Sean was having quite HIS game. - Pompous
I thought the Couturier line was really good. Coots had numerous high danger scoring chances and they seemed to be in the Boston zone most of their time. He should have gotten some PP time IMO. Its not like they are lighting the world on fire in their current configuration, even if they did get one yesterday.
Torts gonna Torts. As it gets down to it he will start relying on Coots again if he continues to play like Coots.

For everyone going “bonk”-ers over his season phantoms youngster Samson was a PPG defenseman in the WHL last year, has a whopping single goal and 8 points in 52 games for the phantoms his first year. - Just5
Point taken that junior numbers don't translate very reliably to the NHL. Very true. However, I don't think Samson is a good comparative.
Draft-plus one offensive jump vs. draft-plus-two. Samson is in the Phantoms third pair and working on his two-way game (making some progress, BTW). Assuming Bonk doesn't jump from OHL to NHL in 2025-26, he'd be installed in the Phantoms' top-four. Last but not least, it's not Bonk's offense that the Flyers are excited about; it's is all-around game. I don't think he'll play the bumper on an NHL power play. |

Would the Flyers actually think outside the box and at least try it based on his junior success?
I agree he will not get that chance on the PP |

Known sex offender? Did he get found guilty? I missed that.
That being said, his contract is up after this season so I doubt he returns. - MBFlyerfan
Yes he’s an ALLEGED sex offender but as we can see, some small-minded people don’t let the facts get in the way of a narrative. That being said, unless this case unravels like the old Duke Lacrosse case where the DA lied and hid evidence, all 5 of these guys are most likely done. The PR of even having an alleged sex offender who was acquitted would likely be avoided by all teams. |

Oh yeah. Not guilty, or acquitted, his North American career is over. He may be able to play in Europe.
If found guilty, well, that is obvious.
So either way his NHL career is done.

The 1972 Flyers draft is up there too..
Bill Barber 903 games 883 pts 2 cup wins +2 cup finals
Tom Bladon 610 games 270 pts 2 cup wins + 1 cup finals
Jim Watson 613 games 196 pts 2 cup wins + 2 cup finals
Al MacAdams 864 games 240 goals 351 assists 591 pts
I’m old so this draft always stills in my head Keith “ the thief” Allen still top Flyers GM. “The thief” part includes his draft steals too!
Correction to Allan MacAdams does have a Stanley cup RING but his NAME is NOT on the cup. So he does get partial credit!! - Hosher12

Jagr wanted to play with Mario. He told reams he was not coming over and don't bother drafting him.

I do not see anywhere they signed him to his ELC. Just an ATO - furio16
ELC coming after the playoffs are done. Plays for the Phantoms for the duration, signs elc in the summer, plays for Phantoms next year. |

Does he have the option to go back to school since he only signed an amateur deal? |

I believe that is were his contract would slide to the following year if he went back to OHL/ or college.

There is no slide rule for college if he signs an ELC. For a an ATO not sure. |
