They're about to make the playoffs for the third straight season. Hs teams are 4-2 in playoff series in that time. It's not like he's out there sucking.

He's an internal guy with no NHL experience, after an internal guy with little NHL experience. Life's not always fair. If they make a change, they are going to look for NHL experience this time.

Depends on his nickname abilities...what if he has a different nickname for Dahls or Oooooooooopie? That could disrupt the vibe, do we want that?
- washedup20

No, you're right. As long as everyone refers to any guy by his last name + "s'y", that's where we want to be.

An NHL team is going to hire Appert soon if the Sabres don't.

As an assistant. Don't see a problem there.

They are? That doesn’t sound very efficient or economical…

Well, Donnie is probably coming back, so it won't matter.

The best part of this is they probably aren't making playoffs next season either.

Only a flailing inflatable tube man would provide a take like this.

Last year Donny was the greatest coach, for the reasons you just named he is a bad coach.

To be so feeble minded believing this is the main problem is laughable.

- washedup20

I don't think everyone, or even most, thought Donnie was the greatest coach by the end of last season.

There were plenty of issues evident, and some questioned why he was given a contract extension so quickly.

Do we hear they are a year older therefore better narrative this summer?

If they run it back with minimal changes, you are 100% correct. And given the 13 years of history, I’ll say, no playoffs while a Pegula or Adams are president of this team… I can almost see the Adams promotion being the big offseason move.

Not sure I agree that they'll look for NHL experience based on the relative cheapness of the organization, but just for quality of hair style alone, Appert should be the next head coach 🤣😅

I might be wrong about most people thinking that but, I called Meatball Kreuger-lite over the summer and people went wild in here.

- The players career years were all attributed to the Meatball.

- The only coaching changes wanted were the assistants.

- He was deemed the prospect whisperer and he was going to take the 5 1st rounders Adams drafted and turn them into superstars.

- The Meatball will help Levi become the first goalie from college ever to assume the starting goalie position in the history of the game.

- The Don was the reason for the way the team played last year

I don't know, I liked Donny last year and didn't say this. I don't think anyone expected 5 superstars out of those 1st rounders and I still think the issue was the defense, not Levi. His play now has proven that was correct. Also, still think we'd be in a better place if they did give him better assistants. Having Ellis coach the PP is like having Ray coach the goalies.

I thought this was a playoff caliber team this offseason and the coaching scared the crap out of me.

Now here we are

Donnie got way too much clout for being “Not Ralph Kreuger”.

PP started showing its warts last year.

They played glorified pond hockey at 5v5 last year which although was highly entertaining, was never sustainable.

The list runs deep on the coaching staffs ineptitude this year that it will take me hours to write it all out

This roster remains a bottom 10 team - the talent is not there, even with an elite coach.

I disagree.

End of the day, improvements need to be made regardless.

Biggest improvement would come behind the bench coupled with better injury luck next year

It would help, the rest of the organization is so broken I don't know if it's enough though.
