The “realists” were dead quiet during the 10-5-1 stretch the Sabres were on prior to that defining matinee game in Detroit this past Saturday.

Why ? Because the season wasn’t over in November/December.

Fear porn sells.

- Swedish_Jesus

Season was over the moment the pucked dropped at game 1.

The path was set, Buffalo was fated to miss the playoffs.

How do we know this? It happened and you were wrong.

Probably, all these high picks and we Probably won't see any next year, waste of assets.

One thing I'll say to be fair, Benson earned a spot at TC.

Kulich, Rosen and Savoie are leading candidates to join the team...I don't expect Savoie to make it as I think he needs at least a year, maybe two in the AHL to transition his game to a pro level.

It is up to Kulich and Rosen to make it such that they simply cannot be sent down..completely up to them.

It would be a shame if the Amerks missed the PO.
Send the appropriate players down now to make a difference and so they can experience Playoff hockey.

Oh great we are gonna get younger. I really hope Adams has a plan to address whats going on.

You cant just keep promoting prospects as the older players get fed up with losing and want out. Its a never ending cycle.

At some point he needs to trade prospects for young NHL players and fill the holes to make this a playoff team.

Problem with that in the NHL is that it only works when you have guys like Jost around, who you don't mind sitting or waiving.

Ryan Johnson earned a spot too. We saw how clumsy that was for Donnie to juggle.

They need to start grabbing spots or by the time they do half the core is gonna want out. I say wasted assets because Benson is the only one. They need to either play or be used to help know.

They don't need more kids next year. They need a couple skilled, high compete vets (top 6 and top 4, imo)

Maybe.

I've been harping on this for some time now...the team doesn't have the true leader on it. Rather than get "vets" who are washed to "lead" the way to mediocrity, I hope they trade some of our top 6 for real leaders to kick the rest of the roster in the ass.

I'd be open to trading Tage out for the right player. I don't see him as a Top 20 1C, nor is he a leader with his soft style and lackluster 2 way game. That position is designed for the opposite IMO. It would open a hole, so they need to smartly backfill it with the appropriate player.

If that 1C is properly resolved, I would then look for a solid 2 way 3C as well. I us3d to be of the mindset to give Krebs more time, but this season he flatlined/regressed. I like his attitude and drive, just not the results. Furthermore, I would be open to pushing Skinner down...maybe to 3LW...can always br8ng him back up.

Assuming the 1C is solved via trade or FA (hello Stammer!), that opens a spot at 1LW...allowing Benson, JJP, Kulich and Rosen to fight for it. The 2nd place winner gets 2LW.

Greenway is a 4th linner. That opens a spot at 3RW...the 3rd place finisher gets that.
Add in 4th line spots...honestly, the energy some young guys could bring there would help and may prove value there.

Go get you true 1C and a very good 3C both of whom could be coaches on the ice and let's go!

Here we are, 12 years into the suffering and still don't have a 1C.

Epic.

Tage has battled 3 separate injuries all season.

Had two high end seasons the year prior.

Seems a tad bit premature to be blowing our loads here but it’s par for the course I guess

Pretty sure it's a small minority who would move on from Tage this summer.

You'd never move Mitts if you were planning on it.

Par for the course would be running it back, drafting, developing, and picking top 10 for another decade.

Well then use them to get those players, there becoming wasted because they aren't going to be inserted into the lineup. Some of these players are getting to 2-3-4 years from there draft. The shine does wear off.

No win situation. Even if he makes a good trade, could have used that help the last 2 years. Their plan makes no sense and never has.

He's had a sh!t year with injuries and even when he was playing, he's only been fully healthy for what, half a year? Or has he?

The giveaways are through the roof with him this year, but I think that's a result of him trying way too hard to make something happen. He knows he's had a sh!t year. You can see it on his face. He'll bounce back.

Rosén just turned 20 in December. I think he showed in those 7 games he played up here that he isn't ready. Players develop at their own pace.

It would do Savoie well to play a year in Rochester, imo. As fun as Benson has been to watch, do we need another small winger "playing hard" but only producing 6 goals and 20 something points?

I agree that they need to parlay one, two of these (Kulich, Rosén, Ostlund, Savoie, picks, whatever, etc) into something that can help us the next few years.

I'd throw Samuelsson and Krebs into the trade conversation.

The right trade comes along? I'd trade Power, too. But that would have to be a "blow your socks off" offer.

Kev has misread this team and what their needs were every year so far.

Year 1: Cup contenders. Year 2: Tear down that wasn't needed. Year 3: Development year where they should have made the playoffs. Year 4: Run it back with the golden child, no changes needed.
